Location: Century Center, Building B, 1020 Birch Ridge Drive, Raleigh, NC 27610

Overview:

The North Carolina Department of Information Technology (NCDIT-T Web Systems) is seeking a highly skilled Azure Cloud Engineer with hands-on experience implementing and managing Azure infrastructure in secure and scalable enterprise environments.

This position requires candidates currently residing in the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill, NC area and the ability to report onsite as required (up to 3 days per week). The selected candidate must attend Day 1 onsite to collect equipment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Configure and manage Azure subscriptions, resource groups, and environments.

  • Implement Azure Policies, RBAC, and tagging standards to maintain governance and compliance.

  • Deploy and manage core Azure networking components VWAN, Azure Firewall, VNets, NSGs, Private Endpoints, VPN/ExpressRoute.

  • Configure and support Azure Application Gateways and related infrastructure.

  • Automate infrastructure using Bicep, ARM templates, or PowerShell scripting.

  • Troubleshoot connectivity issues between Azure and on-premise networks.

  • Assist in incident response, root cause analysis, and performance optimization.

  • Implement monitoring, logging, and diagnostics in Azure environments.

  • Collaborate with development, security, and architecture teams to enhance deployments.

  • Enforce cloud governance, security, and compliance policies.


Required Skills & Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience managing and deploying Azure landing zone architectures in enterprise settings.

  • 3+ years of strong Azure networking expertise (VWAN, ExpressRoute, VPN, Firewall, VNets).

  • 3+ years designing secure Azure environments with a private-by-default approach.

  • 3+ years experience implementing and managing Azure Policies, RBAC, and resource tagging.

  • 5+ years of demonstrated problem-solving and collaboration experience in cross-functional teams.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Azure Certifications: AZ-104, AZ-700, AZ-305 (or equivalent).

  • Proven experience supporting public-sector cloud environments.

  • Strong documentation, automation, and communication skills.

  • Only candidates local to the Triangle (Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill) area will be considered.
