We want to find a visionary, adaptable, and results-oriented Principal IT Architect for our US Electric Domain within our Architecture teamThis position can be located in Brooklyn, NY, Waltham, MA, Hicksville, NY, or Syracuse, NY (candidates may also reside in either Connecticut, New Jersey, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, or Maine). Job Purpose

As a Principle Architect, the candidate will be responsible to lead the creation of architectural work products(artefacts) and performing various analysis. These work products are very important in communicating to the entire IT community. They may include designs, blueprints, global principles, standards and patterns or Notices of decision that impact technology strategy.

What you'll do

As a Principal IT Domain Architect, you'll be crucial in shaping the architecture of our technology solutions, ensuring they align with our business goals and strategies. You'll lead the design and implementation of complex solutions, driving innovation and excellence in our technology landscape. You'll provide technical guidance and expertise to the Programs and Products supporting the Electric Domain, including Highest Security Zone hosting National Grid Critical Network Infrastructure (CNI). Key responsibilities include the following:

  • Ensure alignment of IT strategies with business goals and identify capability gaps and technology recommendations to achieve our strategic objectives.
  • Provide technical thought leadership and direction for the design of highly complex and Enterprise/Domain scale systems solutions to effectively meet business needs. Provide leadership for the architecture and solution design of projects/products that address strategic business needs and compliance with regulatory requirements. This includes in-depth analysis of multiple solution options and outlining technology recommendations.
  • Define the roadmaps from the "as-is state" to the "to-be state" Design secure, efficient, and adaptable future state models. Define the high-level migration/transition plans to address the gaps between the "as-is" and future state.
  • Lead the design and implementation of scalable, robust, and secure solutions.
  • Create the Solution Visions and Conceptual Architecture that addresses the high-level business requirements.
  • Develop integration patterns to enable timely and efficient delivery and data
  • Design secure, scalable and flexible solutions and ensure reliability requirements are designed in from the start.
  • Maintain broad knowledge in the business applications/services that comprise the electric domain.
  • Provide technical subject matter expertise and insight related to the business applications electric domain.
  • Establish and enforce architecture principles, guidelines, and standards.
  • Conduct architecture reviews and ensure adherence to best practices and standards.

  • Key Deliverables

  • Solution Vision and Technology/Solution Architecture and related diagrams and documentation to meet the changing needs of our enterprise.
  • Current State and Target State Architectural Definitions in alignment to program and product scope: value streams, business capabilities, master data, personas, applications, and key data flows.
  • Technology Roadmaps and Iterations of the Architectural Definition showing transition states of each value stream over the course of the program and product lifecycle: value streams, business capabilities, master data, personas, applications, and key data flows and technology transitions
  • Application Rationalization Roadmap

Supervisory/Interpersonal- Experience Required
Demonstrate an understanding of all elements required to architect, design, build, test, operate and maintain complex, global systems utilizing enterprise infrastructure and applications on time and within budget
Ability to understand the big picture and the short term perspectives of specific situations.
Demonstrated leadership dealing with challenges of diverse cultures, time zones, travel and communications
Extesnsive experience as a leader on multiple, complex large scale projects. As well as hands on experience in emerging architectures (i.e., API s, IoT, Digital Transformation)
Extensive Breadth and depth of understanding of multiple business processes and functional Domains such as manufacturing, customer service, logistics, finance and procurement.
Expert knowledge of the software development lifecycle.
Requires expert understanding of design patterns
Technology design expertise which includes Performance, Security, Availability, as well as Operations, Monitoring and Support.
Ability to identify risks to the organization and communicate those risks effectively.
Advanced-level knowledge of industry-wide existing and emerging technologies and trends
Knowledge of regulatory requirements and best practices such as Sox, PCI, ITIL, RUP
Broad packaged application and technology expertise in alignment with specific domains
Certification or experience with TOGAF, Zachman, FEAF, DODAF, COBIT, ITIL a plus
Ability to influence others to achieve results.
Strong knowledge of Sarbanes Oxley and PCI policies and controls.
Strong consulting, leading and mentoring skills.
Strong problem-solving and analytic skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • 7+ years of experience designing systems for use in large scale enterprises.
  • 7+ years of hands-on technology development and/or implementation experience.
  • Strong technical skills around vendor product selection, software and technology analysis, business analytics, interfaces such as REST, and modern software technologies such as Containers and Microservices.
  • Experience with one or more of the TOGAF (or equivalent framework) architectural domains in business, application, data, technology; have used architecture tools such as Troux, Alfabet, Sparx or equivalent.
  • Experience in architectural support of Agile delivery framework and digital product lifecycle.
  • Experience in developing solutions with both custom and COTS applications.
  • Experience in technology related to utilities would be a plus, such as:

- Asset and Work Management Solutions, Geospatial Systems

- Utility Network Operations and control systems such as ADMS, EMS, SCADA, OMS, DERMS.

Salary

Downstate NY $179,000 - $210,000 a year

Massachusetts $167,000 - $196,000 a year

Upstate NY $149,000 - $175,000 a year

Salary is commensurate with experience and location
