Join the Air Traffic Systems (ATS) Software Engineering team at Collins Aerospace, where your work will directly support safety-of-life air traffic systems used by controllers at over 400 U.S. locations. This role is part of our STARS program (Standard Terminal Automation Replacement System), which manages terminal airspace for both civil and military aviation.

What YOU will do:
  • You will design, develop, test, and troubleshoot software for STARS Database Management System (DMS) and related tools.
  • You will update software design, testing, and documentation in alignment with FAA and STARS standards.
  • You will work closely with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to solve complex technical issues.
  • You will contribute to safety-critical systems that operate in real time and impact millions of air travelers.
  • You will follow structured programming practices using C in a Unix/Linux environment.
  • You will collaborate in Agile-style workflows with configuration and change control tools.

Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
  • Experience with full software development lifecycle in C
  • Experience in Unix/Linux environments
  • Familiarity with databases/SQL (preferably Oracle)

Qualifications We Prefer:
  • Experience with STARS or other Air Traffic Control systems
  • Familiarity with Java, Perl, Python, and scripting languages (bash/ksh)
  • Knowledge of configuration management tools like ClearCase
  • Exposure to Red Hat Linux, J2EE/.NET, JavaScript, HTML, XML
  • Experience with software validation and test conduct
  • Ability to quickly learn new tools, processes, or systems

The salary range for this role is 82,000 USD - 164,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
