The role is responsible for performing the software engineering for the development and sustaining engineering support for the hardware, equipment, devices, and systems software within the scope of the COD infrastructure environment. Systems software includes operating systems, virtualization or container platforms, transaction management systems, performance and utilization tracking systems, libraries, utilities, and other software necessary for the operation and execution of COD IT and OT systems. function, including the design, development, testing, troubleshooting, and debugging of software programs for enhancements and new software-intensive systems and products. Applies appropriate principles, standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the software development life cycle. Duties include software requirements analysis, analysis of hardware compatibility, development of software products and tools used for design, development and maintenance of infrastructure, and platforms. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Expert-level systems engineering support. Design, deploy, and maintain Red Hat OpenShift clusters in production environments. Implement and manage Traefik Enterprise as the ingress solution for our containerized applications.
  • Configure and optimize Redis instances for high-performance caching and data storage.
  • Develop automation strategies for OpenShift deployments using infrastructure as code principles.
  • Create and maintain architectural documentation and runbooks.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues across the container platform ecosystem. Collaborate with development teams to optimize application deployment workflows.
  • Design, develop, test, and deploy reliable and scalable software solutions.
  • Collaborate with team members on architecture, code reviews, and technical problem-solving.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code in accordance with best practices.
  • Debug and resolve software defects and performance bottlenecks.
  • Contribute to product planning and provide input on technical feasibility and estimates.
  • Participate in Agile activities, including stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
  • Continuously learn and improve your craft, staying up-to-date on new technologies and industry trends.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., computer science, software engineering, Information Technology) or 5 years of equivalent experience.
  • Ability to obtain a NASA Public Trust clearance.
  • Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages such as Java, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, C#, Ruby, or Go.
  • Experience with web development frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Spring Boot, Django) or backend systems.
  • Familiarity with REST APIs, databases (SQL or NoSQL), and version control tools like Git.
  • Understanding of software engineering principles, data structures, and algorithms.
  • Solid communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a solution-oriented mindset.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform).
  • Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and/or CI/CD pipelines.
  • Exposure to Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Enthusiasm for solving complex problems and learning new technologies.
  • Familiarity with Atlassian Software and Microsoft 365 toolsets (e.g., Teams).
  • Knowledge of ITSM and ITIL concepts and frameworks.
