Job Details

At CVS Health, we're building a world of health around every consumer and surrounding ourselves with dedicated colleagues who are passionate about transforming health care.

As the nation's leading health solutions company, we reach millions of Americans through our local presence, digital channels and more than 300,000 purpose-driven colleagues - caring for people where, when and how they choose in a way that is uniquely more connected, more convenient and more compassionate. And we do it all with heart, each and every day.

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly analytical, statistically proficient, and detail-oriented professional to support methodology and metrics development for a range of CVS Health programs, utilizing analytic tools for evaluation and reports to demonstrate program value. The successful candidate will possess a proven track record of delivering reporting with data driven insights and key performance indicators and knowing how to pressure test and act on these insights to support the overall strategy and direction of our program. This will require the ability to "be in the weeds" while also rolling up insights at a strategic level for leadership, which also entails strong communication skills to both analytical, business, and leadership stakeholders.

The role also requires the highest level of attention to detail while working in an entrepreneurial environment that is, at times, ambiguous and uncertain. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success dealing with this type of fast-paced environment, with the ability to learn on the fly while understanding and solving new problems and prioritizing deliverables based on the value added. It will require a high level of independent judgment and initiative, while leveraging the appropriate subject matter experts to achieve results.

Responsibilities and growth opportunities
  • Develop and refine product evaluation methodology of specific care management product.
  • Develop new methodologies and metrics where none exist. Enhance existing methods until outputs are stable and reliable. Deliverables will support product design, report design and tell value story.
  • Define and build metrics that support Marketing and Sales materials.
  • Maintain clear documentation and present results in a digestible, audience-friendly format
  • Build the reporting deliverable's values story, intake feedback from clinical, commercial and other collaborators.
  • Track product performance results before reports are due.
  • 60-70% of working hours will allocate to individual coding, 30-40% will allocate to meetings, discussions, and creating shareable documentation.
  • Apply deep understanding of statistical models to business problem statements, selecting and implementing the appropriate techniques to address questions and test hypotheses effectively.
  • Optimize code for performance and readability.
  • Take full ownership of deliverables: able to justify every line of code you wrote and clearly explain all assumptions made, able to answer all the questions from end-users so that others can rely on your deliverables and use them directly
  • Assist in developing training and talking points for each standard report
  • Provide analytical support for ad-hoc requests, including time-sensitive ones.
  • Seek support from the broader Data Science and Data Engineering teams when necessary.
  • Willing to adapt and grow to the next level (Sr. Data Scientist) and become able to lead high-impact, highly visible, and complex projects.

Required Qualifications
  • 2+ years' experience in data analytics
  • Strong understanding in statistical concepts, experiences of applying statistical models to business problems
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and statistical modeling tools (e.g. R, Python, SAS)
  • Translate complex data into business and strategic insights
  • Thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and navigate ambiguous requests with minimal guidance and supervision
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, including but not limited to communicating roadblocks, clarifying task scope and expectations
  • Learn new concepts quickly, intrinsically curious, self-driven, enjoy solving complicated problems, have a big picture mindset

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in payer, provider, or life sciences analytics
  • Advanced Excel skills for financial modeling and trend analysis
