Title: Senior Cards Business Analyst (USA Market)
Location: San Antonio, Texas / Hybrid

Position Summary:
The Opportunity:
We are seeking a highly experienced and technically proficient Senior Cards Business Analyst to join our dynamic team. This pivotal role will be instrumental in bridging the gap between business needs and technical solutions within our Cards & Payments domain, with a strong focus on the intricacies of the USA market. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of card industry regulations, payment schemes, and technical messaging standards, enabling them to drive the successful development and enhancement of our card products and features.
Key Responsibilities:
- Requirements Elicitation & Management:
o Lead and facilitate comprehensive requirements gathering sessions with diverse stakeholders (business users, product owners, technical teams, compliance).
o Translate complex business needs into clear, concise, and actionable functional and non-functional requirements.
o Develop detailed Use Cases, User Stories, Business Process Models, and other relevant documentation.
o Conduct thorough requirement mapping, identifying gaps, dependencies, and potential conflicts.
o Perform in-depth analysis of existing systems and processes to inform new requirements.
- Stakeholder Collaboration & Workshops:
o Design and lead engaging workshops for various stakeholders to validate requirements, drive consensus, and resolve ambiguities.
o Act as a primary liaison between business and technical teams, ensuring clear communication and shared understanding.
o Foster collaborative relationships with product managers, developers, QA engineers, and operations teams to interpret requirements and facilitate the development of high-quality features.
- Cards Domain Expertise (USA Focus):
o Possess a strong understanding of the US Cards landscape, including credit, debit, prepaid, and commercial cards.
o Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all relevant Card Regulations within the USA market (e.g., Durbin Amendment, Reg E, PCI DSS, etc.).
o Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of major payment network features and functionalities (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover), including their various product offerings and rules.
o Proficiently understand and interpret ISO 8583 messaging types and their various fields, sub-elements, and data elements.
o Solid grasp of the end-to-end Card Processing lifecycle, including:
Card Transaction Authorization (online/offline, issuer/acquirer processing).
ON-US and OFF-US transactions and their distinct processing flows.
Settlement and Clearing processes between various parties.
Payment reconciliation and dispute resolution (Arbitration/Chargebacks).
- Product Development Facilitation:
o Collaborate closely with product owners and development teams to interpret requirements, clarify scope, and ensure accurate implementation of features.
o Participate in agile ceremonies (e.g., sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives) providing business context and insights.
o Support testing efforts by reviewing test plans, test cases, and assisting in defect triage.
o Contribute to the continuous improvement of business analysis processes and tools.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 8+ years of proven experience as a Business Analyst specifically within the Cards & Payments domain, with a strong emphasis on the USA IT market.
- Demonstrable experience gathering, documenting, and managing complex requirements for card products and systems.
- Deep understanding of the USA card regulatory environment.
- Expertise in Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and other major card scheme functionalities and rules.
- Strong proficiency in ISO 8583 message standard and its application in card transactions.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Card Processing, Authorization, ON-OFF-US transactions, Settlement, Clearing, Payments, and Arbitration processes.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Exceptional communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders at all levels.
- Proven ability to run effective workshops and facilitate group discussions.
- Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development environment.
- Proficiency with business analysis tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, Visio, etc.).
