Title: Senior Functional Safety Engineer
Description: THIS ROLE IS 100% ONSITE AT our Client's Site in Normal, Illinois.
12/31 HARD-SET END DATE TO START: WITH POTENTIAL TO BE EXTENDED DEPENDING ON BUSINESS NEEDS AND PERFORMANCE
Schedule: M-F 630-5(1 hour non-billable lunch) avg 8 hours with flex depending on business needs
MOST IMPORTANT SKILLS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Work with engineering, operations and equipment vendors for design and commissioning activities
-Conduct Equipment Safety Buyoffs with a cross-functional team
-Complete Risk Assessments in accordance with ISO 12100 and our client's standards
In this role, you will be involved with the design and specifications for new machinery and equipment for Engineering & Manufacturing sites. You will also be an active participant in equipment acceptance testing and commissioning as well as evaluating proposed changes to equipment and machinery for safety requirements.
Work with engineering, operations and equipment vendors for design and commissioning activities
Develop equipment safety standards where needed and continuously improve existing standards
Complete Risk Assessments in accordance with ISO 12100 and our client's standards
Conduct Equipment Safety Buyoffs with a cross-functional team
Identify safety opportunities and suggest corrective actions for continuous improvement
Create and deliver training related to equipment and machinery safety
Maintain detailed records of equipment compliance
Work with department EHS staff to support as needed
Participate in learning teams, investigations, inspections, audits, etc. as needed
Required
Demonstrated familiarity with mechanical, electrical, automation, and control system design
Experience with ANSI, UL, NFPA, ISO and other applicable standards
Experience interpreting electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic safety circuits and evaluating performance level & circuit structure
Comprehensive knowledge of electrical circuit design in accordance with NEC, UL 508a, and NFPA 79
Preferred
Certified Functional Safety Professional CFSP/CFSE
Certified Machine Safety Expert
Experience in Battery/EV Manufacturing
Experience with national Standards Development (UL,NFPA,ANSI)
Working knowledge of hazardous area classifications, occupancy classification, hazardous material inventories
