This is a 6 month contract-to-hire and needs to meet Client full-time conversion policies. Those dependent on a work permit sponsor now or anytime in the future (ie H1B, OPT, CPT, etc) do not meet Client requirements for this opening.
**MUST BE W2; No Corp-to-Corp**
Our financial services client is seeking an Agile Product Owner (APO) to support our Digital Enablement portfolio. The APO is a critical role that sets the priorities for an agile team, represents the voice of the customer, and links execution to the business vision. This role requires a high performing individual who is a thought leader able to balance multiple responsibilities and collaborate with multiple stakeholders.
What does the structure/makeup of the team currently look like?
- Single agile team with standard roles (i.e. PO, SM, TL, Dev s, QA, etc.) with potential expansion to a second team within the same or different product
What will this contractor be accomplishing for your team?
- Backlog refinement
- Feature decomposition into US
- US and defect documentation
- Working directly with stakeholders to get requirements
- Backlog execution
- Attending all scrum events
- Answering team questions about requirements
- Completing user testing, when needed
- Making recommendations for internal and external change management
- Ex Communications to Operation teams about potential questions from customers on new functionality
- Data analysis
- Requesting or harvesting data from data sources or teams
- Analyzing the data to determine if there are issues with functionality vs what is expected
What will this contractor be working on / are there specific projects?
- Primary: Customer Communications delivery
- Secondary: Assist with brand refresh efforts
Responsibilities
Lead product execution for 1 or more agile team(s)
Engage with business and technology stakeholders to identify product opportunities and implications
Represent the voice of the customer to the agile team(s)
Provide perspective on portfolio / value stream vision and roadmap
Articulate the product vision and roadmap to the agile team(s)
Guide the agile team(s) in determining sprint goals, linking execution activities to business intent
Manage the product backlog, breaking down features into stories and prioritizing stories to maximize business value.
Occasionally assist APM with feature road mapping
Accountable for the health and readiness of the team backlog
Ensure the agile team(s) understand the items in the backlog and their business value
Write user stories, including defining acceptance criteria, with minimal coaching and oversight
Accept completed stories that meet the definition of done and quality expectations
Validate that the solution and functionality meet the product vision
Incorporate feedback from sprint demos
Partner with the Scrum Master, agile teams, Architects, APM, Tech Leads, and business stakeholders to ensure solutions will deliver the business vision
Drive business readiness and change management activities
Monitor and share execution progress including risks and impediments
Analyze delivery metrics to identify
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of experience in product-related role, digital, technology, or related field
- Bachelor s degree required
- Experience in the insurance industry preferred
- Knowledge of agile methodologies and frameworks such as Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), Scrum, Kanban, XP, etc.
- Experience with agile lifecycle management tools (e.g., Rally, JIRA)
- Experience with Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Teams preferred
- Strong collaboration and influence skills, including ability to manage multiple stakeholders
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability understand audiences, tailor messages and influence outcomes
- Experience with analyzing data to identify insights and create hypotheses for testing
- Familiarity with mentoring junior APOs and contributing to an Agile product management community of practice
- Self-motivated individual with demonstrated ability to handle multiple high-priority demands, manage expectations and achieve objectives
