Job Title: Senior Performance Engineer
Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid)
Duration/Term: Long Term Contract


Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Performance Engineer with expertise in scripting, application profiling, and cloud-native microservices. The ideal candidate will lead performance testing efforts, optimize distributed applications, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance system reliability and efficiency.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, design, and execute performance test strategies based on business requirements and system designs.
  • Lead performance testing initiatives, including planning, scripting, and execution.
  • Perform application flow profiling using tools such as JProfiler, JFR, and debugging distributed applications with Elastic APM, Jaeger, OpenTracing.
  • Optimize SQL and NoSQL database performance (Oracle, MongoDB) and search engines (ElasticSearch).
  • Work on cloud-native microservices platforms (Linux, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS) to ensure seamless application performance.
  • Provide detailed performance test reports, identifying bottlenecks and improvement opportunities.
  • Troubleshoot performance issues in production environments, ensuring stability and reliability.
  • Implement best practices in performance engineering, continuously improving testing methodologies.
  • Collaborate with product management, development, and architecture teams to enhance overall system performance.
  • Work with CI/CD pipelines and test automation frameworks, ensuring seamless integration and deployment.
  • Partner with geographically dispersed teams in an agile development environment.

 

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Java, PowerShell, Shell scripting).
  • Hands-on experience with performance profiling tools such as JProfiler, JFR.
  • Deep understanding of distributed applications and monitoring tools (OpenTracing, Elastic APM, Jaeger).
  • Strong expertise in SQL and NoSQL databases (Oracle, MongoDB).
  • Experience with cloud-based performance testing (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform).
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and test automation frameworks.
  • Banking domain experience
  • Strong collaboration skills in cross-functional, geographically dispersed teams.
