Job Details

The Veterinary Technician is responsible for the care and maintenance of animate and inanimate models before, during and after laboratory sessions. They work closely with the clinical veterinarian and other laboratory staff to support customer training programs and research.

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

Anesthesia Assistance:

Administration of anesthesia: induction and maintenance.

Sets up anesthesia machines and monitoring equipment for specific surgeries

Animal care and surgical preparation under veterinarian supervision including vascular access and monitoring, sedation, intubation, and other skills

Intraoperative monitoring of vital statistics, fluids, drug administration, surgical interventions

 

Laboratory Support:

Maintain a clean and safe surgical working environment

Support customer training and product development activities

 

Maintenance and Inventory:

Assist with stocking OR bays and prep room

Assist with weekly and monthly OR bay and prep room set up

 

Skill / Job Requirements:

0-1 yrs. experience in veterinary anesthesia and surgical procedures

Registered Veterinary Technician new grads encouraged to apply

Associates or Bachelor s degree preferred

Experience working with animals in a research setting preferred

Knowledge of animal anatomy, physiology, medical disease states, surgical applications

Strong oral and written communication skills

Skill with large animal care and emergency care techniques

Experience with surgical preparation and operative monitoring required

Ability to lift 50 lb.
