AWS Cloud Platform Engineer

Onsite Requirement: Must be available to work onsite on Wednesdays (Local candidates preferred)
Experience Level: 10+ years total IT experience, 5+ years AWS-focused infrastructure experience


Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced AWS Cloud Platform Engineer to design, implement, and support enterprise-level cloud infrastructure solutions. The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise with AWS services, infrastructure automation, container orchestration, and DevOps practices. You will play a key role in migrating on-premises systems to AWS, building robust environments, troubleshooting complex issues, and ensuring platform security and reliability.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design & Implementation

    • Build, configure, and maintain AWS cloud infrastructure (VPC, EC2, EKS, IAM, Redshift, etc.).

    • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, CloudFormation, and CDK.

    • Implement containerized environments using Docker and Amazon EKS.

  • Migration & Integration

    • Lead migration efforts from on-premises infrastructure to AWS.

    • Migrate technology stacks, ensuring compatibility and scalability.

    • Integrate monitoring and observability tools such as Datadog and SIEM.

  • Operations & Troubleshooting

    • Resolve infrastructure, networking, and application issues.

    • Collaborate with Cybersecurity, Architecture, and Development teams.

    • Maintain disaster recovery strategies and perform system tuning and upgrades.

  • Automation & Optimization

    • Automate provisioning, patching, and updates across AWS environments.

    • Implement policy-as-code practices for security and compliance.

    • Develop scripts in Python and Bash to streamline operations.

  • Leadership & Mentorship

    • Act as a subject matter expert for AWS platform services.

    • Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices in cloud engineering.

    • Drive adoption of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles.


Required Skills & Experience

  • Core Cloud Expertise:

    • 5+ years of hands-on AWS experience (EC2, VPC, IAM, EKS, Lambda, Redshift, CloudWatch, etc.)

    • Strong background in Linux system administration.

    • Proven experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and orchestration (EKS).

  • Automation & DevOps:

    • Proficient with Terraform, Ansible, and AWS CloudFormation.

    • CI/CD pipeline experience (Jenkins, Bitbucket, Artifactory, etc.).

    • Scripting skills in Python (Boto3) and Bash.

  • Additional Skills:

    • Networking fundamentals (NACLs, Security Groups, Direct Connect).

    • Monitoring and logging tools (Datadog, AppDynamics, New Relic).

    • Familiarity with service mesh (Istio, AWS App Mesh) and CNI plugins (Calico, Flannel).

    • Exposure to AI-related AWS services (Amazon Kendra, Bedrock, etc.) is a plus.


Preferred Qualifications

  • AWS Certification (Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer, or similar - minimum one required)

  • Experience with Cloudera Hadoop platform (migration knowledge is a plus)

  • Site Reliability Engineering background (3-5 years)

  • Experience in enterprise-scale cloud transformation projects

  • Strong communication skills for cross-functional collaboration
