TITLE: Systems Engineer NY

DEPARTMENT: TS Variable Operations

REPORTING TO: Service Delivery Manager

OFFICE LOCATION: New York City

Overview of the Team

Join our New York-based Service Delivery Team, a dynamic group committed to excellence and innovation. Working from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM, you'll collaborate with a talented team of three engineers in a supportive, impact-driven environment where success is a shared goal. Led by our Service Delivery Manager, the team consists of three experienced engineers dedicated to delivering exceptional service and driving results.

Role Overview:

Deliver installation services and provide technical support for IPC's advance server and network-based telecommunications solutions in a fast-paced, high-demand environment serving the global financial community.

The ideal candidate will possess:
  • Experience in the installation and troubleshooting of server & networking technologies (Cisco, etc)
  • Knowledge of telecommunications (a must)
  • Knowledge of databases and operating systems (beneficial)
  • PBX experience (beneficial)
  • The ability to work nights and weekends (flexible work schedule is a requirement)

How You Will Make an Impact:

The team oversees all installation, service, and Move-Add-Change (MAC) activities across NY, NJ, and CT for IPC's Unigy product line and other server-based solutions. They are committed to delivering first-class service to IPC customers while ensuring operational excellence. With a strong customer focus, the team proactively manages and controls service operations using established methods and best practices, all within agreed budgets and timelines. Notably, the New York client base is IPC's largest, both in number of clients and overall size.

Essential Skills and Experience to be Successful in this Role:
  • Should have a strong understanding of VoIP and network topologies
  • Wireshark and Cisco packet capture tools, bandwidth testing tools, and SNMP
  • Strong understanding of basic network topologies
  • Excellent verbal communication, technical writing/drawing and organizational skills
  • DHCP / DNS / NTP
  • Basic understanding of telephony- T-1, DS3, DSO, ARD's, 4 wire-Hoot's, Understand VOIP technology- QOS (Quality of Service) Major components of the VoIP network- Voice packetization- Voice quality- Bandwidth-Traffic convergence issues- VoIP standardization and protocol-Network assessment
  • In depth understanding of cabling, building risers, fiber optics, patch panels, Cat 6, 12 Pair, plus color codes
  • Understanding of networking concepts, including WAN / LAN/ ATM technology.
  • Linux, SQL, and virtualization expertise are preferable

Desired Skills and Experience:

Any IT Certifications in the following areas is beneficial but not necessary:
  • Operating Systems (Microsoft, Linux)
  • Servers (Server+, etc)
  • Linux (Red Hat...)
  • Virtualization (ESXI, KVM...)
  • Databases (My SQL, Oracle, Microsoft SQL)
  • BS/BA from an accredited university preferred. Or equivalent work experience (5+ years as an engineer in the IT industry)
