Drupal to WordPress Developer

Key Responsibilities

• Migrate ~6,500 pages of content including basic, advanced, faculty, academic program, and news pages from Drupal 10 and WordPress (Scene Magazine) into WordPress using the Block Editor.
• Ensure proper structuring of content to allow non-technical staff to manage updates post-migration.
• Preserve all metadata, taxonomy, SEO attributes, image alt text, canonical tags, and internal associations.
• Maintain and migrate independent subsite navigations (approx. 300) and associated user access (613+ editors).
• Implement or recommend effective use of plugins such as CPT UI, ACF, PublishPress, and miniOrange for SSO and permissions.
• Map and maintain all 301 redirects for existing content; ensure updated URL paths for WordPress-originated pages.
• Conduct thorough quality assurance testing across devices and breakpoints, flag layout issues, and validate functional parity.
• Provide post-migration Core Web Vitals report and optimization suggestions, including image compression and performance improvements.

Required Qualifications

• Proven experience with large-scale Drupal-to-WordPress content migrations.
• Strong understanding of WordPress Block Editor, taxonomy, metadata, and SEO best practices.
• Familiarity with tools such as ACF, CPT UI, and PublishPress for content structure and permissions.
• Experience managing multi-user WordPress environments with complex roles and workflows.
• Knowledge of SSO integration, preferably with Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD).
• Demonstrated attention to accessibility, responsive design, and performance optimization.

Preferred Skills

• Familiarity with Bootstrap 5-based layouts and translating custom CSS behaviors into WordPress.
• Experience with quality assurance workflows, layout validation, and basic accessibility auditing.
• Clear communication skills for collaborative review with internal stakeholders.
