Responsibilities :
- Prepare detailed monthly reports analyzing changes in revenue and production costs, including price/volume analysis, rate filing impacts, usage, customer growth, and weather.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide insights on gross margin performance.
- Establish, document, and maintain controls, policies, and procedures.
- Support and provide oversight for applicable SOX controls.
- This is a functional leadership role suited for someone who is dynamic and enjoys a fast-changing environment.
Required Skills:
- Strong knowledge of U.S. generally accepted accounting principles and internal controls.
- Roughly ten years of professional-level accounting experience: Of that, five years should be in a leadership role)
Diversified experience with financial accounting systems, spreadsheets, and database software is desirable. Advanced Excel skills required. - Solid knowledge of integrated financial systems and how they relate to infrastructure and reporting to support decision-making. Experience upgrading or implementing new accounting systems is a plus.
- Relevant experience in the utility industry is required.
- Exceptional analytical and reasoning skills, with strong intellectual curiosity. Strong planning and organization skills.
- Proactive in identifying problems and developing collaborative solutions. Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to interact and build relationships across all levels of the organization.
- Able to work independently, meet deadlines, and contribute effectively as a team member.
- High attention to detail.
- Strong technically and strong in leadership.
- Experience managing a team in multiple locations is a plus.
- Accounting and analysis related to revenues and production costs across all states.
- Regulatory accounting, including understanding state-specific requirements, implementing rate case decisions, and managing regulatory mechanisms.
- Month-end close of gross margin and water accounting, including unbilled revenue, analysis, internal and external audits, financial reporting, and special projects.
- Managing a multi-state team, including recruiting, hiring, training, developing, and conducting performance evaluations.
- Supporting rate case proceedings, including preparation of filing schedules, responding to data requests, and participating in testimony.
- Working closely with FP&A to support budgeting and forecasting related to gross margin and regulatory accounts.
- Assisting in research guidance, preparing accounting memos, and working with external auditors.
- Assisting in the implementation of new accounting standards.
- Contributing to special projects and workflow process improvements.
