Job Summary:
The Disney Account in Orlando is seeking an experienced YMP Application Development Lead to join the team onsite, full-time. This is a hands-on technical leadership role focused on application development, architecture design, and code quality within a modern cloud-based ecosystem.
The ideal candidate is a seasoned Java developer with deep expertise in Spring Boot, AWS, and Microservices Architecture, capable of leading by example through active coding, mentoring, and ensuring high-quality, scalable software delivery.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Serve as the technical lead for YMP application development efforts, collaborating with project managers, architects, and business stakeholders.
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable Java-based microservices using Spring Boot.
- Lead by example through hands-on coding (majority of the role) and detailed code reviews.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define architecture, integrate APIs, and optimize system performance.
- Ensure secure, reliable, and efficient deployments on AWS using cloud-native tools.
- Troubleshoot complex issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement sustainable solutions.
- Drive continuous improvement in code quality, performance, and maintainability.
- Mentor junior developers and promote a collaborative, high-performing team culture.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 7+ years of hands-on experience in Java software development.
- Strong expertise in Spring Boot and microservices-based architecture.
- Proven experience developing and deploying applications in an AWS environment.
- Solid understanding of API design, containerization, and distributed systems.
- Demonstrated leadership in guiding development teams and performing code reviews.
- Excellent debugging, performance tuning, and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience with RESTful APIs, CI/CD pipelines, and modern DevOps practices.
- Strong communication, leadership, and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in media, entertainment, or large-scale enterprise environments.
- Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, and Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
Work Environment:
- Onsite role at Client's Orlando campus attendance required 5 days per week.
