Job Description:

We are seeking a Senior COBOL Developer for a long-term contract opportunity based in Atlanta, GA. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in legacy systems, including COBOL development, with strong Unix and database skills, and some exposure to modern integration technologies.

Required Skills:

COBOL programming strong hands-on experience
Relational databases Oracle preferred
Unix/Linux environment scripting and system interaction
SOAP/RESTful APIs understanding of XML/JSON data interchange
C programming ability to read and write in C
Exposure to AWS or other cloud technologies (preferred, not mandatory)

Responsibilities:

Analyze, design, develop, test, and implement IT solutions for legacy systems.
Participate in upgrades, enhancements, and integration of business and technical systems.
Utilize appropriate SDLC methodologies for project execution.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in COBOL-based environments.
Collaborate with stakeholders to understand technical and business needs.
Contribute to legacy system evolution and modernization where applicable.

Preferred Experience:

Background in the airline industry or enterprise-scale environments
Experience working on mission-critical legacy systems
Knowledge of COTS (Commercial off-the-shelf) software integration
