General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems.

We have an exciting opportunity for a UAS Systems Integration Engineer to support our Army Engineering Group in San Diego, CA. Under general supervision and with limited review, this position supports the Integration group within Army Aircraft Systems/Project Engineering. The role involves providing technical and project leadership with focus on developing system-level capabilities for unmanned aircraft. Key responsibilities include technical leadership, coordinating efforts across multiple engineering disciplines, and collaborating with various departments to accomplish system design, integration, and flight test.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Collaborate with a team of engineers to support Army modernization roadmap and multiple modernization projects. Coordinate segments of a project and frequently interface with various teams on technical issues.
  • Prepare and present both technical and non-technical briefings to management and stakeholders on the project's progress, status, and plan.
  • Coordinate and interface with customers on requirements, document findings, and communicate results to the corresponding engineering groups.
  • Lead and support system requirements development by coordinating Subject Matter Expert (SME) inputs from various disciplines.
  • Support System Integration Lab (SIL), Hardware in the Loop Laboratory (HILL), and Flight Test activities for hardware and software integration. Develop engineering test plans, procedures, and reports for tasks of moderate size and complexity.
  • Leverage technical knowledge to assist engineering staff in the analysis, investigation and resolution of engineering challenges of moderate scope and complexity.
  • Foster effective communication and collaboration with other Engineering disciplines, Program Management and subcontractors to ensure project success.
  • Maintains the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the company. Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.

Job Qualifications

  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree, Master's degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; nine or more years of experience with a Bachelor's degree, seven or more years of experience with a Master's degree. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
  • Proven technical and troubleshooting skills for diagnosing and resolving hardware and software issues in complex systems, including integration and testing environments
  • In-depth knowledge of engineering concepts, principles, codes, and theory; experience demonstrating a broad application of those concepts; and, expanding knowledge of principles, concepts, theory, and practices in related technical specialties
  • Must possess the ability to develop and communicate new concepts; apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment; organize, schedule, and coordinate work phases; and, determine the appropriate approach at the task and/or project level to provide solutions to a range of complex problems.
  • Must have strong communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team; able to perform complex tasks in one or more engineering areas.
  • Experience with Agile software development methodologies and proficiency in tools like Jira is preferred.
  • Must be able to work extended hours and/or travel as necessary to fulfill project requirements, including on-site support of testing and troubleshooting
