Job Description:
This position provides day to day SCADA operations support requiring diagnostic knowledge and experience to troubleshoot SCADA software / hardware and process control applications within specialized areas of SCADA including client/server applications, system administration, security controls, Oracle and other database systems, and server hardware and software.
This position requires competence and demonstrates the ability to investigate, analyze and resolve SCADA server & desktop application and operating system problems; including hands-on experience in server management and best practices.
This position will also work closely with IT and project management teams, and SCADA network/security team members in order to maintain a secure and properly working SCADA network.
Special Requirements:
Strong knowledge of Linux; Ability to set up and maintain infrastructure automation and management tools, satellite servers, and familiarity with SolarWinds and Sophos or other similar applications.
Develop and maintain images and configure an operating-system deployment strategy using Linux management tools.
Perform the administration and management of Linux based SCADA Infrastructure.
Maintain software updates on Linux based controllers; Familiarity working with virtual environments.
Job Duties:
May develop technical training materials for area of responsibility.
Conducts analysis and investigations of technical issues, prepares reports and makes recommendations.
Conducts technical studies, tests, inspections, and research for area of responsibility.
Prepares and reviews, estimates, plans, submittals, design criteria, and specifications.
Develops, prepares, and delivers presentations.
May represent Metropolitan within area of responsibility to obtain or convey information and resolve issues.
May develop and administer contracts and agreements; oversees the work of vendors, consultants and contractors.
May serve on a project team.
Develops and maintains databases within area of responsibility.
Develops and updates of standards, procedures, guidelines, and manuals.
May provide emergency response within area of responsibility.
May act as resident inspector within area of responsibility.
Performs other related Engineering Technician job duties as required.
Control Systems
Performs evaluation, testing, installation, and upgrades of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition system.
Performs plant startup for Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition instrumentation and control.
Performs development, support and maintenance of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition system software and hardware, database, graphics, and applications.
Performs real-time Automatic Process Control and Programmable Logic Controller development, support and maintenance.
May assist with research on Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition technologies.
Conducts factory acceptance testing and integration of new systems and hardware and software upgrades.
Receives, reviews, and implements Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition change requests.

Education and Experience: High school diploma or general education development test (GED), and two years of accredited college or university in engineering and six years of relevant experience, two years of which must have been at the Engineering Technician II level.
