We are seeking an experienced Cohesity Backup Engineer to support our client in Washington, DC. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Cohesity DataProtect, data backup/restore operations, and enterprise storage environments. This role involves architecting, implementing, and maintaining backup solutions to ensure data availability, integrity, and recoverability for mission-critical systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, implement, and manage Cohesity backup and recovery solutions across enterprise environments.
Perform daily backup operations, monitoring, troubleshooting, and ensuring successful job completion.
Configure, optimize, and maintain backup policies, schedules, retention rules, and SLAs.
Lead data recovery efforts, including restore requests, disaster recovery support, and failover testing.
Collaborate with infrastructure, storage, security, and application teams to ensure backup compliance.
Analyze backup performance issues and implement tuning or configuration adjustments.
Maintain documentation for backup architecture, processes, runbooks, and operational procedures.
Support migration activities, upgrades, and integration with other storage or cloud platforms.
Ensure adherence to PBsecurity and compliance standards.
Required Skills & Experience:
8+ years of experience in backup engineering or enterprise storage administration.
Strong hands-on experience with Cohesity DataProtect (implementation, configuration, administration).
Experience with one or more backup platforms (e.g., Commvault, Rubrik, NetBackup) is a plus.
Solid understanding of VMware, Windows/Linux servers, and enterprise storage systems.
Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure) backup integration.
Strong troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and performance optimization skills.
Experience with scripting (PowerShell, Bash, or Python) is a plus.
Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Ability to work onsite in Washington, DC as required by PBGC.
Preferred Qualifications:
Cohesity certification (e.g., CCAP) is highly desirable.
Experience supporting federal clients or secure enterprise environments.
Knowledge of ITIL processes and change management.
