Title: Quicksight BI Developer

Location: 849 International Dr., Linthicum, MD, 21090. Some teleworking may be permitted, based on assignment and team needs.

Position Description: Responsible for developing and operating business intelligence (BI) platforms, tools, and reports. The individual is responsible for the following tasks:

  1. Design, develop and maintain BI solutions, extract, transform, load (ETL) processes, and dashboards
  2. Gather and analyze requirements from stakeholders to ensure the BI solution meets needs
  3. Develop data models to support reporting and analytic
  4. Implement ETL processes to analyze data from various source systems and data formats;
  5. Create interactive dashboards, reports, and visualizations
  6. Collaboration with multiple teams to understand requirements and objectives
  7. Administer testing and troubleshooting
  8. Create and update documentation.

Education: This position requires a bachelor s or master s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in computer science, statistics, mathematics, economics, or related field. Three (3) years of equivalent experience in a related field may be substituted for the Bachelor s degree.

General Experience: The proposed candidate must have a minimum of three (3) years of experience as a BI Developer.

  • Strong data visualization skills, creating compelling and easy-to-understand dashboards
  • Proficiency in SQL is a must
  • Excellent communication and training abilities
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
  • In-depth knowledge of data governance and data security best practices
  • Proficiency in data exploration and querying is essential
  • Familiarity with data modeling and data warehousing
  • Knowledge of data warehousing and cloud computing is a plus
  • AWS QuickSight certification is a strong advantage

Specialized Experience: The candidate should have experience as a BI developer or similar role with a strong understanding of data modeling and ETL processes. The candidate should be proficient in SQL and experience with BI tools/software. They should possess a strong understanding of data warehouse, data lakehouse, and data mart concepts.

  • Key qualifications include strong project management skills, leadership abilities, effective communication, and the capacity to identify and resolve issues while adapting to changing circumstances. Significant experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, product owners, and stakeholders is essential
  • Preferred qualifications include a technical background and experience in data and AI/ML projects. Functional experience with local or government projects in Data Services (MDM/R360/EDMS), Child Support, Integrated Eligibility, Child Welfare, Adult Protective Services, Juvenile Justice, or Health and Human Services is also preferred
