Senior Network Security Engineer

Location: On-site, Woodlawn, MD (5 days/week)
Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust

Position Description

The Senior Network Security Engineer will research, design, and implement secure, scalable network solutions across a large enterprise environment. This role provides both engineering leadership and hands-on operational support. You will work with advanced technical concepts, solve complex challenges, and collaborate with highly experienced technical teams. Duties include:

• Designing and implementing security solutions for enterprise network infrastructure
• Engineering network solutions for new and existing systems
• Providing daily operational support for network engineering and troubleshooting
• Solving complex technical problems and creating innovative solutions
• Collaborating with senior-level engineers and architects
• Performing additional duties as assigned

FOUNDATION FOR SUCCESS (Basic Qualifications)

Experience Requirements

• 7 years designing, configuring, managing, maintaining, and troubleshooting routing and switching protocols in large enterprise networks (5,000+ nodes)
• 7 years configuring and managing load balancers, switches, and routers
• 5+ years working with firewalls, particularly Palo Alto Networks
• 7 years using Network Monitoring/IPAM technologies (e.g., NetFlow)
• 7 years hands-on physical communication troubleshooting (cabling, signaling analyzers, packet capture)
• 5 years working with Cisco IOS and Cisco Nexus OS
• Experience with WAN Optimization technologies such as Riverbed, plus trace tools like Wireshark
• 3 years scripting experience with Python or Perl
• 2 years experience with Cisco Prime
• Advanced experience architecting, designing, deploying, and operating:
• DNS/IPAM
• Firewalls
• NAC Solutions
• Load Balancers
• DDoS mitigation tools
• Tapping/sniffing infrastructures
• NTP environments
• Strong expertise in WAN, LAN, TCP/IP, VPN, Ethernet
• Extensive knowledge of routing protocols:
• EIGRP, BGP4, RIP, VPLS, MPLS, OSPF
• Active Cisco CCNP or higher certification
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust (contract requirement)
• On-site availability in Woodlawn, MD 5 days/week

• IPv6 deployment experience (SLAAC & DHCPv6)
• Experience with Gigamon
• Experience with Dynatrace
• Experience configuring Zero Trust networks
• Strong understanding of internetworking across security, routing, switching, SAN, and application networking
• Experience with Microsoft Server and Linux administration
• Linux command-line expertise
• Experience with server hardware (Dell, HP, Cisco UCS)
• Experience with virtualization (VMware)
• Ability to document:
• Network topologies
• Switch/router configurations
• Device inventories
• Cabling interconnects
• Ability to produce high-quality operational documentation
• Experience using MS Visio and MS Project

• Prior Federal Government experience

Education

• Bachelor s degree with 7+ years of relevant experience
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Clearance
