The Desktop Support Technician provides technical assistance to end users by troubleshooting hardware, software, and network-related issues. This role ensures smooth IT operations and supports users in resolving technical problems efficiently and professionally.
Key Responsibilities:
- Respond to technical support requests via phone, email, or in person.
- Diagnose and resolve issues with computers, printers, mobile devices, and other peripherals.
- Install, configure, and maintain hardware and software systems.
- Assist users with operating systems, applications, and connectivity problems.
- Document support activities and resolutions in a ticketing system.
- Collaborate with IT team members to escalate and resolve complex issues.
- Educate users on IT procedures, tools, and best practices.
- Track and manage IT equipment inventory and ensure compliance with security standards.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education in IT or related field preferred.
- 1-3 years of experience in desktop support or helpdesk roles.
- Familiarity with Windows and macOS environments, Microsoft Office, and standard IT hardware.
- Strong troubleshooting and communication skills.
- Customer-focused with attention to detail.
- IT certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Microsoft) are a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and move equipment up to 25 lbs.
- May require walking, bending, or kneeling to access hardware.
