Boeing Propulsion Systems Engineering is seeking Propulsion Systems Engineers in Everett, WA, to work in an onsite role.

This candidate would be supporting the Propulsion Controls Center of Excellence, a core team that supports commercial airplane models currently in production and in service. The ideal candidate will have prior experience and knowledge with engine controls or thrust reverser actuation systems on aircraft. This candidate will be responsible for the system safety analysis and certification of engine control software and/or thrust reversers and similar propulsion component mechanisms.

They will be authoring certification documents such as system safety assessments, certification test plans/reports/summaries, system description documentation, and equipment qualification tests and reports. It is important that this candidate will ensure proper coordination across products, platforms and functional areas to promote a culture of compliance to requirements and application of procedures to FAA guidance.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Coordinates extensively with other engineering disciplines and propulsion system suppliers/ industry partners.
  • Provides definition of requirements for propulsion systems, auxiliary power systems and vehicle fuel and tank systems.
  • Provides definitions, coordination and control of the functional and physical interfaces between the propulsion system and the vehicle.
  • Develops specifications and configuration concepts for associated vehicle systems to meet customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Develops various testing, analysis, modeling and simulation tools to estimate or calculate system performance.
  • Provides definition and supports performance of certification tests for propulsion sub-systems and components.
  • Supports aircraft production and the operating fleet to assure continued reliability and airworthiness.
  • Utilizes and applies Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) principles to speed innovation, increase operating efficiencies and assist in development, integration and certification of complex systems.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) from an accredited course of study in engineering or related field.
  • 2+ years of engineering experience in propulsion systems

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • 5+ years of engineering experience in propulsion systems
  • Experience in System Safety Analyses (Failure Hazard Assessment, Fault Tree Analysis)
  • Experience integrating complex systems across multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Systems engineering experience (Specification Control Documents, logic diagrams, Interface Control Documents, etc...)
  • Familiarity with Development Assurance processes and methodology
  • Equipment Qualification experience
  • Knowledge of Part 33 and Part 25 Federal Airworthiness Regulation (FAR) compliance for propulsion systems.
  • Knowledge of development, production and certification testing and/or qualification processes and procedures, including knowledge of governing regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Knowledge of propulsion system analysis principles, processes, methods, and tools for aerospace vehicles and their components, including company and industry standards and practices.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to interface with factory personnel, engine and component suppliers.

Summary pay range Associate (Level 2): $81,600 - $110,400

Summary pay range Experienced (Level 3): $100,300 - $135,700
