Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc., (SGA), is searching for a Risk Data Analyst for a CONTRACT assignment with one of our premier Financial Services clients in New York, NY.

Responsibilities:
The role will be part of a core central data analytics project delivery team, charged with ensuring the timely execution of deliverables across multiple workstreams, whilst imparting their subject matter expertise and know-how of business analytics techniques and delivery. The candidate must be an individual experienced in data analytics, with both hands-on skill and with sufficient domain knowledge to be able to provide meaningful solutions that are functional and sustainable.
  • Support the Metrics and Data Controls Lead in the development of a best-in-class platform to provide meaningful insights into the causes of data quality issues so that remediation efforts can be focused to drive Risk Reduction
  • Write data and feature specifications utilizing Control outputs and work with Technology partners to develop new analytics capabilities.
  • Compile insightful, actionable analysis of trends against Data Quality Indicators to support decision making by senior management.
  • Plan and co-ordinate UAT activities for new business analytics capabilities.
  • Provide hands-on technical data support for the Price Risk Metrics and Control Analytics initiative.
  • Identify Risks & Issues and proactively seek to resolve or escalate them in a timely and well-articulated manner.
  • Have relevant industry experience within the Financial Industry, preferably within Business / Data Control Analytics
  • Be self-starting with proven ability to hit the ground running.
  • Handle complexity, ambiguity and a fast changing, often demanding work environment.
  • Drive change to business practices by working effectively across a global organization.
  • Demonstrate analytical skills with follow-up and problem-solving capability.

Required Skills:
  • Excellent attention to detail when analyzing and documenting data and business requirements
  • Understanding of the key data quality themes typically experienced at the touchpoints between processes in large complex technology environments.
  • Ability to work off own initiative to identify opportunities for improvement and better data insight.
  • Use of Python / Jupyter notebooks to analyze data.
  • Use of SQL to analyze data.
  • Good Tableau skills to support data analysis and develop storytelling through efficient visualizations.
  • Background in using advanced Tableau reporting / analytics capabilities to support Control / Business Data Analytics
  • Proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent attention to detail along with problem solving and analytical skills.

Preferred Skills:
  • Bachelor's/University degree, master's degree preferred
  • Good understanding of Control points in Price Risk Front Office valuation processes and their interaction with Market Risk Management and Product Control.
  • Strong business and data analysis skills
  • Exposure to python data science libraries (e.g., SciKit-Learn) a plus.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills; must be able to use language efficiently and succinctly to deliver targeted messaging to senior stakeholders.
