AS400 Developer Location: Open to Fully Remote Candidates

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented AS400 Developer to join our IT team. This role is essential for supporting and enhancing our legacy AS400/iSeries systems as we prepare for a major transition to SAP across 50 plant locations. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in IBM iSeries development, with a solid background in RPG IV/ILE, CL, and DB2/400.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain applications on the AS400 platform using RPG IV/ILE, CL, and SQL.
  • Translate business requirements into scalable and efficient technical solutions.
  • Conduct system analysis, coding, debugging, and documentation.
  • Enhance and support existing legacy applications to meet evolving business needs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Business Analysts, QA, and fellow Developers.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve application and production issues in a timely manner.
  • Participate in peer code reviews and ensure compliance with development standards.
  • Maintain comprehensive technical documentation and provide user training/support when necessary.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in AS400/iSeries development.
  • Proficient in RPG IV/ILE, CL, SQL, and DB2/400.
  • Deep understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Experience with database design, data modeling, and performance tuning on DB2/400.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment.

Additional Notes:

  • This role will primarily support our legacy AS400 system which is in the process of being replaced by SAP.
  • SAP transition is planned in three waves:
    • Wave 1: November 2025
    • Wave 2: February 2026
    • Wave 3: May 2026
