We are looking for you to join our team as a Principal / Sr. Principal Network Engineer based out of San Diego, CA. As a Principal / Sr. Principal Network Engineer at Northrop Grumman you will have a challenging and rewarding opportunity to be a part of our Enterprise-wide digital transformation. What You'll get to Do:
The selected individual will play a critical role in the design, development, and delivery of the program's network architecture.

Roles & Responsibilities include but aren't limited to:
  • Work closely with engineers and technicians in a lab environment
  • Advise on integration of new emerging industry technologies to the program's systems
  • Implement engineering changes to the system as required
  • Review, analyze, and incorporate technical requirements into end-to-end system architectures
  • Responsible for completing the network configurations and coordinating with the peers, SMEs, and government engineers.
  • Occasional travel may be required
This requisition may be filled at either a Principal Level or a Sr. Principal Level.

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications for Principal Network Engineer:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in science, engineering, or related discipline with 5 years of experience; or 3 years of relevant experience with a Masters degree; or 0 years with a PhD ; an additional 4 years of relevant experience can be considered in lieu of a Bachelors Degree.
  • Experience with Firewall, VPN, switch, and router configuration
  • Experience with configuration and management of Cisco, Palo Alto, or Fortinet network appliances
  • Experience with authentication and data encryption methods, to include securing communications at either the datalink or network layer
  • Active certification at DOD 8570 IAT Level II (e.g. Security+) or greater
  • Clearance: Candidate must currently have, and be able to maintain an active U.S. Government DOD Secret Clearance
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain special program access as a condition of continued employment

  • Bachelor of Science degree in science, engineering, or related discipline with 9 years of experience; or 7 years of relevant experience with a Masters degree; or 4 years with a PhD ; an additional 4 years of relevant experience can be considered in lieu of a Bachelors Degree.
  • Experience with Firewall, VPN, switch, and router configuration
  • Experience with configuration and management of Cisco, Palo Alto, or Fortinet network appliances
  • Experience with authentication and data encryption methods, to include securing communications at either the datalink or network layer
  • Active certification at DOD 8570 IAT Level II (e.g. Security+) or greater
  • Clearance: Candidate must currently have, and be able to maintain an active U.S. Government DOD Secret Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with more than one of Cisco, Palo Alto, and Fortinet
  • Experience with network behavior analytics (such as Cisco ISE and Stealthwatch)
Salary Range: $97,500 - $146,300
Salary Range 2: $120,900 - $181,300

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
