Job Details

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer and support DB2 (Mainframe and LUW), PostgreSQL, and SQL Server databases.
  • Perform database installation, configuration, patching, and upgrades.
  • Monitor database performance and implement tuning measures for optimal efficiency.
  • Manage backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability.
  • Implement security controls, user access management, and compliance policies.
  • Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to troubleshoot performance or connectivity issues.
  • Automate recurring tasks using scripting (e.g., Python, Shell, or PowerShell).
  • Support migration and modernization initiatives (e.g., from DB2 to Postgres).
  • Maintain documentation of database architecture, processes, and configurations.
  • Participate in on-call support rotation for production systems.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 8+ years of experience in database administration.
  • Strong expertise in DB2 (Mainframe and/or LUW) administration.
  • Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL and Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Proficiency in SQL performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing.
  • Solid understanding of database backup/recovery techniques and high availability setups (HADR, clustering, replication, etc.).
  • Knowledge of Linux/Unix and Windows environments.
  • Experience with database migration, upgrades, and cross-platform integration.
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g., IBM Data Studio, pgAdmin, SQL Profiler, or custom scripts).
  • Scripting knowledge in Shell, Python, or PowerShell.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • Experience with AWS RDS, Azure SQL, or cloud database services.
  • Exposure to DevOps tools for CI/CD of database changes.
  • Basic understanding of NoSQL or cloud-native databases.
