Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Network Engineer with expertise in Cisco technologies to join the team. The ideal candidate will provide mentorship, advanced technical support, and leadership in network operations, including switch and router lifecycle management, wireless LAN solutions, and operational issue resolution.
This role requires a proactive professional who can troubleshoot complex networking issues, drive improvements in coverage and performance, and collaborate across teams to deliver high-quality network solutions. The engineer will also support junior engineers and contribute to the success of network-related projects.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Manage and execute switch and router lifecycle processes, including replacements and new builds at various locations
• Provide advanced troubleshooting and resolution for network issues, including wireless LAN performance, printer connectivity, and camera functionality
• Mentor and support junior engineers, enhancing their technical skills and knowledge
• Participate in the improvement of wireless coverage and network performance
• Perform upgrades and maintenance on network management tools such as Cisco ISE, TSNA (BMC software), and SolarWinds
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support network-related projects and initiatives
Required Experience/Skills
• CCNA or CCNP certification
• Strong experience with Cisco routers, switches, and wireless controllers
• Proficiency in OSPF routing protocols
• Experience with Cisco ISE and SolarWinds
• Excellent problem-solving skills and customer service orientation
• Ability to work onsite in Des Moines, IA, with occasional travel to other locations
Nice-to-Haves
• Experience with wide area network (WAN) routing
• Knowledge of network security best practices
• Strong communication and leadership abilities
