Job Title: Communication Consultant

Location: 80 Park Plaza, Newark, NJ 07102

Hybrid (2 days in office, 3 days remote)



OverviewSomeone who is a good storyteller, interview internal people, great interpersonal skills, strong power point skills, good design power point design skills.

Someone who is experienced with putting together newsletters (both external and internal)Media relations capabilities: ability to write/support edit of press releases, understanding of the mechanics of media relations. Nice to have, understanding of media relations skills.Know how to find reporters and successfully pitch media stories.

Coming on-site to Newark office mainly 2x per week (possibly more). Onsite at least 2x per week in office (usually Newark, but sometimes other offices). Will also need to go to work related events. Will have to go to on-site activation across various sites. On average 3x per week will be out and about (2 days working remote usually).

Flexibility needs to be required on behalf of the contractor, some weeks will require more in-office visits.Minimum 5 years is required.Likely 2 rounds of interviews (starting with zoom video, possibly on-site for the 2nd interview).60% external, 40% internal communication.



Responsibilities:We are seeking a skilled communications contractor to support external and internal communications efforts across our Clean Energy Solutions team. This contractor will work under the direction of the senior communications consultant and communications consultant, helping with writing, presentation development, award submissions, event logistics, creative/graphic development and media relations support. The ideal candidate will have strong writing and design capabilities, along with the flexibility to collaborate across diverse communications styles and teams in a fast-paced environment.



Key Responsibilities:Support and lead award submissions process for CES programs (including managing awards tracker, managing review process, writing award submissions and submitting when necessary to appropriate organizations, monitoring wins and announcing wins internally and externally where needed).Support the development and formatting of presentations for internal and external events, including managing version control and updating content as needed and trafficking through appropriate stakeholder review.Assist in writing articles and other communications content to tell customer stories and raise awareness of programs.Assist with event logistics and on-the-ground support for outreach and media events, including photo and video capturing.Assist in managing internal communications for the business, including drafting internal content such as blog posts and articles for company platforms.Help develop digital tools and content, in collaboration with the social media team, to support storytelling and amplify awareness of company programs and community impact.Assist in the development of visual and written content for social media and external channels to support programs across the energy efficiency portfolio.Provide light research and benchmarking to support campaigns, presentations, and surveys.\Assist in preparing materials for media relations, including background documents, event coordination, and media outreach support.Help monitor and track content deliverables, project timelines, input projects into Wrike and other communications needs.



Qualifications:Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in communications, media, public relations, or social media.Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, public relations, marketing, or related field preferred. In lieu of a degree, 5 or more years of relevant experience will be considered.Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.Experience supporting outreach or community event communications.Familiarity with Microsoft Office is required.Experience with Canva or other basic graphic design tools is preferred.Video production or editing skills and comfort supporting digital content development.Ability to bring new ideas for visual storytelling and support cross-functional digital communications efforts.Must be collaborative, detail-oriented, and comfortable working on multiple projects at once.Should access to a personal vehicle or be close to transportation hubs to travel to offsite meetings, outreach events and or attend media events as needed throughout our service territory.

Listed salary ranges may vary based on experience, qualifications, and local market. Also, some positions may include bonuses or other incentives.
