Job Details

CTG is seeking to fill a Scrum Master II opening for our client in Buffalo, NY.

Location: Buffalo, NY
Duration: 6 months

Application Development Background is a MUST HAVE

Overview:

  • Provides servant-leadership and mentorship to multiple cross-functional agile teams.

  • Applies Agile principles and frameworks including Scrum, Kanban, and XP.

  • Fosters self-organization, cross-functionality, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

  • Visualizes and communicates team progress and impediments to stakeholders.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Utilize agile practices including user stories, retrospectives, story mapping, ATDD, TDD, continuous integration, pairing, and information radiators.

  • Encourage continuous improvement and transparency across Agile teams.

  • Develop team-level coaching materials and best practices.

  • Facilitate Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, backlog refinement, reviews, and retrospectives.

  • Promote visibility into workflow through appropriate metrics and information radiators.

  • Address and escalate blockers outside team control.

  • Collaborate with other Agile leaders to improve Agile maturity across the organization.

  • Mentor junior Scrum Masters.

  • Facilitate team learning opportunities such as training sessions and communities of practice.

  • Ensure compliance with risk and regulatory standards; escalate issues when needed.

  • Implement and maintain internal controls to mitigate risks.

  • Support diversity and promote the M&T Bank brand.

  • Complete additional related duties as assigned.

Scope of Responsibilities:

  • Influences Agile maturity and effectiveness across multiple teams.

  • Collaborates closely with stakeholders and Agile leadership to align team output with business goals.

Supervisory/Managerial Responsibilities:

  • No direct reports.

  • Leads through influence, accountability, and ownership in an Agile environment.

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor s degree and at least 4 years of Agile team experience, including 2+ years as a Scrum Master.

  • In lieu of a degree: 8 years of education and/or work experience, including 4 years on Agile teams and 2+ years as a Scrum Master.

  • Skilled in Agile routines including PI pre-planning.

  • Experience maintaining and improving Agile metrics.

  • Finance industry background preferred.

Education and Experience Preferred:

  • Experience in at least two technology roles (e.g., project manager, UX, business analyst, developer, QA, deployment).

  • Background in fostering team self-organization and continuous improvement.

  • Strong understanding of Agile and Lean principles.

  • Experience developing or managing digital capabilities.

  • Familiarity with Design Thinking.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Proven ability to lead through influence.
