Job Description:

Parsons/SGSS has an immediate on-site full-time opening for a full time Senior Systems Engineer (SSE) supporting a program on a secured DOD client site. The SSE will provide technical support to end-users by assisting with IT system issues and effectively articulating and present IT projects, options and solutions to potentially non-technical users.

The SSE will be responsible for the customer site management of computing infrastructure that supports development and testing of spacecraft systems, including servers, storage, network, workstations as well as all installed software. The individual will also be responsible for executing information technology security plans in accordance with the organization's requirements as well as
CMMC (NIST 800-171) standards. Candidates should be comfortable in Linux/UNIX server environment, while also capable of supporting end-user scientific workstations.

What You'll Be Doing:
  • Provide outstanding Linux and IT systems configuration, deployment and day-to-day system administration (data storage and backups), tasking, troubleshooting, monitoring and prioritization of work in support of DOD project needs.
  • Includes but is not limited to managing workstations, site infrastructure, storage and applications on physical and eventually virtual cloud servers (AWS).
  • MUST be self-motivated and able to assertively document and follow-up on customer requests.
  • MUST have hands-on knowledge in coordinating problem resolution and working across IT functional areas
  • Management of Red Hat and Ubuntu Linux servers, VMWare VSphere installation and administration, and VMWare
  • Workstation deployments, AWS VPC and EC2, Juniper firewalls, Dell Network Switches, Netapp, Dell, and HP SAN storage, MediaWiki and other web-based applications.
  • Protect systems against threats and risks by monitoring vulnerably scans and alerts to perform security vulnerability remediation through patching and updating operating systems and applications
  • Participate in systems design and assessment as well as identifying, planning and integrating new technologies and/or processes for increased performance.
  • Support building and deploying large SANS used in a VMware VSphere environments.
  • Support long-term planning and management of infrastructure, including maintenance, upgrades, and replacement of obsolete equipment.
  • Provide direct mission support in a classified and unclassified Windows laptop\\Linux desktop and server environment
  • Ensures adherence to Change Management and Incident response protocols and procedures.
  • Responsible for tasking & management of system administrators at DOD government location.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple task/events simultaneously and deliver on time.
  • Develop and maintain documentation about the current environment setup, SOPS and best practices.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:
  • Active DoD Top Secret clearance, with ability to obtain a CI\\Poly clearance
  • Minimum of twelve (12) years' experience in a professional relative field
  • Must have hands-on experience performing day-to-day administrative tasks related to managing a RedHat Linux based cluster to include storage and networking.
  • Minimum of 12 years Linux administration expertise in RHEL 7 & 8 environment to include full management of installations, NFS & application configurations, configuration management (Ansible) and troubleshooting of all aspects of Linux servers
  • 10+ years IT Infrastructure experience in an enterprise setting, including demonstrated O&M experience (Linux/Unix based applications, backup/recovery strategies, advanced troubleshooting, patching, hardening, etc.)
  • 8+ years of progressive VMware experience. Strong knowledge of VSphere, Windows, and MacOS
  • 8+ years of Network Administration or related work experience in supporting, deploying and interconnecting various network technologies at an enterprise scale (TCP/IP and LAN/WAN) -- Includes Hands on working experience with Networking operations systems such as Cisco, Juniper Screen OS and FortiOS. Strong understanding of TCP/IP and LAN/WAN networking.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively gather information, report status, and record detailed task closure information
  • Self-started who is results oriented and can deliver tasks independently
  • B.S. in relevant field (Comp. Sci./Engineering, Software Engineering) or 16+ years relevant experience may be substituted for education.
  • Strong understanding of DISA STIG requirements and implementation
  • Ability to work independently on a wide variety of given tasks with minimal direction.
  • Ability to research new technologies for customer environment to include working with IT management and/or government business leaders to analyze technology requests and deliver allocated IT administration tasks within defined timeframes.

What Desired Skills You Might Bring:
  • Current TS/SCI
  • Atlassian product suite experience
  • Familiar with Windows System administration tools and processes
  • 5+ years of progressive knowledge in AWS EC2 & VPC environments
  • 5+ year of supporting tasks associated with the build, implementation, and administration of the On-Premises and Cloud server environments
  • 5+ years of progressive Knowledge of Data Storage Technologies as NAS or SAN
  • 5+ years of System Administrative experience focused on the backend of the business communication platform, Slack
  • Experience performing ISO 27001/20000, CMMI and/or CMMC audits/compliance reports
  • Proven experience independently researching, planning, presenting, implementing, and maintaining substantial IT infrastructure solutions
  • Programming Languages: Shell Scripting (bash, csh), and HTML/CSS
  • MySQL application and database system support experience
  • COTS Products: Apache Web Server, Netapp, RedHat Satellite Server, RedHat IDM, Juniper, Fortinet Fortigate, Dell Servers & Switches, VMware VSphere
  • Background in SaaS infrastructure and service development, ideally across a wide range of software, operational and networking aspect
