Overview of Position
We are looking for a highly experienced software development leader, Sr. Principal Software Engineer, who will be responsible for spearheading the entire lifecycle of critical applications, from initial design and architecture to technical implementation, ongoing maintenance, and support, ensuring these mission critical systems function flawlessly and meet our business needs. The ideal candidate will have extensive expertise in software engineering best practices, deep technical knowledge, and strong leadership skills to guide teams through complex projects.
II. Job Responsibilities
Technical Leadership and Engineering
Guide the technical direction of projects, making key architectural decisions, setting code standards, and ensuring best practices are followed across the team.
Functionally and technically decompose complex problems into simple, straight-forward solutions. Define Design and develop system architectures, components, and APIs for business-critical applications, ensuring efficient delivery and maintaining high operational quality. Possess expert knowledge in performance, scalability, enterprise system architecture, and engineering best practices. Keep up with the latest technologies and research new tools and frameworks. Technical influence over multiple teams, increasing their productivity and effectiveness by sharing your deep knowledge and experience. Flexible with an organizational mindset and skills to adapt solutions to organizational needs. Actively contribute to code development, especially for complex or critical components of the application.
Execution
Managing the entire software development lifecycle, including planning, execution, testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance.
Lead the execution of critical projects ensuring efficient delivery - On time, high-quality and scalable. Lead cross-functional teams across the entire development lifecycle, from requirements gathering to deployment and ongoing support. Monitor project progress and identify potential risks to proactively address issues.
Mentorship and Coaching
Coaching and mentoring engineers, fostering a collaborative team environment, and promote knowledge sharing.
Assist in the career development of others, actively mentoring team members on advanced technical challenges and helping managers guide the career growth of their team members. Foster a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence within the team.
Stakeholder Management
Work closely with managers, designers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and align software solutions with business goals.
Collaborate closely with business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions. Communicate technical complexities clearly to non-technical stakeholders. Work closely with other engineers, managers, clients, and stakeholders.

This role encompasses leading the entire software development cycle, from planning to architecture design to implementation and maintenance, by indirectly overseeing a team of engineers, ensuring high quality software, making critical technical decisions, mentoring junior developers, and staying updated with the latest technologies to drive innovation with the company.

IV. Knowledge, Education, Skills & Abilities
- A bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field required.
- 12+ years of software engineering experience, with 5+ years in technical leadership roles.
- E-Commerce & e-Commerce platform experience - SAP Hybris and SAP Commerce Cloud CCV2
- Expert in modern programming languages (Python, Java,) and frameworks.
- Deep knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform), microservices, event driven architecture and containerization (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker).
- Track record of delivering large, mission-critical software projects. Lead the design & implementation of scalable, reliable, and secure software systems.
- Ability to tackle ambiguous problems with a systematic approach.
- Excitement to dig in, prototype, build, test, and see projects through to production.
- Strong mentoring, influencing, and decision-making skills.
- Identify emerging technologies and evaluate their applicability to business objectives.
- Oversee the delivery of high-impact software projects, ensuring they meet quality, performance, and schedule expectations.
- Utilize your big-picture perspective to spot existing and impending problems, then work with senior engineers and leadership across the department to analyze and solve them.
- Act as a mentor to Principal Engineers and other senior-level staff, fostering growth and technical excellence.
- Knowledge of modern CI/CD, DevOps practices, and tools.
- Communicate technical strategies and progress to executive leadership, stakeholders, and partners.
- Collaborate across teams, including product management, operations, and engineering, to drive alignment and success.
