Job Title: Senior Business Analyst
Location: Austin, TX 78701
Job Description:
The Senior Business Analyst will support multiple projects that align with the agency's mission to improve outcomes for Texas students. Key focus areas include public dashboards for postsecondary outcomes and grant projects for 1st through 3rd grade.
This role involves advanced business analysis and user experience (UX) design work to ensure a high-quality end-user experience. The analyst will work closely with the product team and stakeholders to deliver solutions grounded in research, aligned with agency design standards, and based on best practices.
Responsibilities span the entire software development life cycle (SDLC), from requirements gathering to post-implementation support, ensuring all requirements are captured, validated, and met.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct stakeholder interviews and document clear, detailed business and system requirements
Develop user stories, use cases, and functional specifications aligned with industry standards
Create wireframes or mockups based on UX best practices
Lead efforts in process improvement and business process re-engineering
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and quality outcomes
Facilitate meetings, workshops, and design reviews
Maintain documentation and ensure traceability across the SDLC
Minimum Requirements:
8 years of experience eliciting requirements and documenting system requirements
8 years of experience working with software development life cycles (SDLCs)
8 years of experience in business process re-engineering and process improvement
8 years of experience writing user stories and use cases following best practices
8 years of experience designing wireframes or mockups based on UX principles
5 years of demonstrated strong communication and facilitation skills
5 years of strong writing and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Modern Requirements software
Experience with Atlassian Jira
Experience working with the Texas Education Agency (TEA) or other education agencies
Knowledge of the Teacher Incentive Allotment program, grant programs, or student outcome data
