Job Details

FORTRAN/ C++ Developer

Location: Remote

Role Description:

A developer is needed to complete a backlog of IT tasks that would incorporate forest research and put it in the hands of forest managers to make better informed decisions about active forest management projects.

An example of the type of tasks needed are:

  • Coding a new version of a fire and effects model into FVS.
  • Updating the Forest Inventory and Analysis Forest Type Algorithm into FVS.
  • Incorporating NFS Regional Vegetation Class algorithms into the base FVS code

Must Have Skills:

  • Developer/ Engineer with Fortran, R, C++ experience.
  • FORTRAN Programming Language
  • R Programming
  • C++ Programming Language

Nice to Have Skills:

  • Someone with a strong math and coding background.
  • Someone who has a Forest Biometrics, Natural Resource or Biological Sciences background as they would need less staff oversight because they would understand the real-life application of the code they are implementing
  • At least 3 years of experience (with bachelors), 7 years of experience (without bachelors).
