Job Description:
Pay Range: $35hr - $40hr
  • The Database and Application Support Engineer will be responsible for managing and maintaining multiple database environments, executing operational SQL tasks, handling ETL processes, and supporting production and non-production environments.
  • The role requires strong SQL skills, incident management experience, and the ability to work collaboratively across teams to ensure database stability and reliability.
Responsibilities:
  • Support Production, Staging, and Non-Production database environments.
  • Perform database setup, configuration, and validation for new or recovered environments.
  • Manage de-converted client database recovery and setup requests.
  • Execute SQL scripts and queries for administrative and corrective actions.
  • Disable or update user access and records across MAS, MUSE, and Benefit Workstation databases.
  • Disable MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication) for users using database queries when required.
  • Perform SSN changes, UUID deactivations, and other sensitive data updates in compliance with security guidelines.
  • Add or remove client profiles from application databases (e.g., Benefit Workstation, MAS, MUSE).
  • Retrieve, analyze, and validate configuration, schema, and UID details as needed.
  • Monitor, schedule, and troubleshoot ETL jobs, data refreshes, and batch processing tasks.
  • Work with job schedulers to deploy, validate, and fix scheduled jobs.
  • Collaborate with Development and Infrastructure teams for job migration and incident resolution.
  • Respond to database-related incidents and service requests.
  • Analyze job failures, data discrepancies, and access issues using SQL queries and logs.
  • Escalate complex issues to Level 3 / DBA team with detailed diagnostics.
  • Maintain SOPs, runbooks, and technical documentation for recurring processes.
  • Ensure compliance with change management and audit requirements.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance database operations.
Mandatory Skills and Experience:
  • Strong SQL proficiency (Oracle SQL / PL-SQL preferred).
  • Experience in database-driven application support (MAS, MUSE, Benefit Workstation, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience performing:

    MFA disablement via database
  • User record updates across multiple databases
  • SSN/UUID updates and sensitive data maintenance
  • Client profile setup and removal
  • Proficiency with ETL scheduling tools (e.g., Control-M, AutoSys, Tidal).
  • Understanding of job deployment, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
  • Working knowledge of Oracle Database; familiarity with SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL is a plus.
  • Understanding of schema management and configuration analysis.
  • Basic knowledge of application environments (Production / UAT / Staging).
  • Experience with incident and change management tools (ServiceNow, Jira, etc.).
  • Experience with technologies: .NET, C#, Core, Web API, Entity Framework, SQL Server, DevOps, Docker, Kubernetes, Azure DevOps.

Preferred Skills (Good to Have):
  • Exposure to data masking and sensitive data handling.
  • Scripting knowledge in Python, Shell, or PowerShell.
  • Familiarity with ETL tools such as Informatica, Talend, or SSIS.
  • Understanding of Active Directory / SSO integration for MFA management.
  • Experience supporting financial, benefits, or HR domain applications.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 2 5 years of relevant experience in database or application support.
  • Oracle Certified Associate (OCA) or similar certification is a plus.
Soft Skills:
