We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Software Development Intern to join our team. We are a technology group embedded within the investment team at PGIM Quantitative Solutions. We report to the Chief Investment Officer and often interact and collaborate with portfolio managers, researchers and investment associates to develop customized software solutions. This internship offers a balanced opportunity to gain hands-on experience in back-end development while contributing to front-end projects. You will work on building and maintaining scalable systems, integrating APIs, and developing user-friendly interfaces using modern technologies.

What you can expect:
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable and efficient back-end systems.
- Work with SQL/MongoDB to manage data storage, queries, and performance optimization for large datasets.
- Implement RESTful APIs and WebSocket connections for real-time communication between clients and servers.
- Collaboration with team members to create actionable insights for application features.
- Contribute to front-end development tasks using React, Next.js, and TypeScript as needed.
- Participate in debugging and optimizing end-to-end performance, ensuring smooth communication between front-end and back-end systems.
- Work on server-side architecture in Next.js, building server and client components where appropriate.
- Ensure robust security practices in API design and data handling.
- Collaborate with the team on implementing efficient algorithms and optimizing data pipelines.
What you'll need:
- Pursuing or recently completed a Master's degree in Computer Science between December 2026-May 2027
- Strong foundation in back-end development with Python, Node.js, or similar technologies.
- Familiarity with front-end frameworks such as React or Next.js and understanding of modern UI/UX principles.
- Experience with database systems like SQL and MongoDB.
- Familiarity with state management (e.g., Redux) and modular front-end components.
- Understanding of networking principles, including RESTful APIs and WebSocket connections.
- Experience with algorithmic problem-solving or data processing workflows.
