Position Title: IT Architect (Infrastructure)
Overview:
This position plays a critical role in the planning, implementation, and support of enterprise IT infrastructure with a strong focus on Windows-based systems and virtualization technologies. Operating within a hybrid environment, the engineer is responsible for leading infrastructure initiatives across on-premises data centers and cloud-integrated platforms, ensuring system availability, security, and operational efficiency.
This role emphasizes expertise in Windows Server administration, Active Directory architecture, virtualization (VMware and Hyper-V), and automation using PowerShell. The ideal candidate will also contribute to disaster recovery planning, system monitoring, and guiding junior team members through complex technical implementations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, deploy, and maintain Windows Server infrastructure, ensuring performance, scalability, and high availability.
- Lead initiatives in virtualization platforms, primarily VMware, with support and implementation of Microsoft Hyper-V where applicable.
- Architect and support Active Directory (AD) environments including Group Policy, OU management, and integration with cloud identity providers.
- Develop and automate system processes and administrative tasks using PowerShell, C#, or related scripting tools.
- Implement and support infrastructure services including DNS, DHCP, file services, certificate services, and remote access.
- Administer Microsoft-based authentication systems, including Microsoft MFA, SSO, and integration with SAML/OAuth providers.
- Lead disaster recovery and business continuity planning, including offsite backup and replication strategies.
- Provide technical leadership to a small team, offering guidance on best practices and infrastructure standards.
- Document system configurations, infrastructure changes, and operational procedures.
- Collaborate with security, networking, and application teams to ensure integrated and secure IT operations.
- Stay current on Microsoft enterprise solutions and evaluate tools and technologies to support evolving infrastructure needs.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor s degree and 5+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, systems administration, or engineering.
- Extensive hands-on experience with Windows Server environments in mid to large-scale enterprise settings.
- Strong knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, and related core Microsoft infrastructure services.
- Experience with virtualization technologies, particularly VMware and/or Microsoft Hyper-V.
- Proficiency with PowerShell scripting for automation and system management.
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (LACP, VLANs, load balancing) as they relate to server infrastructure.
- Familiarity with identity and access management, including Azure AD, SSO, OAuth, and OpenID Connect.
- Demonstrated experience in backup and disaster recovery solutions in a Windows environment.
- Ability to lead technical initiatives, troubleshoot complex systems, and perform detailed root cause analysis.
Preferred Attributes:
- Experience supporting Microsoft cloud services (Azure IaaS, hybrid AD environments, Azure AD Connect).
- Familiarity with Windows security hardening, compliance frameworks, and patch management.
- Prior involvement in managing system migrations, upgrades, or datacenter consolidations.
- Strong communication skills and ability to mentor or lead junior team members.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $90,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
