Operating within a hybrid environment, the engineer is responsible for leading infrastructure initiatives across on-premises data centers and cloud-integrated platforms, ensuring system availability, security, and operational efficiency.

This role emphasizes expertise in Windows Server administration, Active Directory architecture, virtualization (VMware and Hyper-V), and automation using PowerShell. The ideal candidate will also contribute to disaster recovery planning, system monitoring, and guiding junior team members through complex technical implementations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, deploy, and maintain Windows Server infrastructure, ensuring performance, scalability, and high availability.
  • Lead initiatives in virtualization platforms, primarily VMware, with support and implementation of Microsoft Hyper-V where applicable.
  • Architect and support Active Directory (AD) environments including Group Policy, OU management, and integration with cloud identity providers.
  • Develop and automate system processes and administrative tasks using PowerShell, C#, or related scripting tools.
  • Implement and support infrastructure services including DNS, DHCP, file services, certificate services, and remote access.
  • Administer Microsoft-based authentication systems, including Microsoft MFA, SSO, and integration with SAML/OAuth providers.
  • Lead disaster recovery and business continuity planning, including offsite backup and replication strategies.
  • Provide technical leadership to a small team, offering guidance on best practices and infrastructure standards.
  • Document system configurations, infrastructure changes, and operational procedures.
  • Collaborate with security, networking, and application teams to ensure integrated and secure IT operations.
  • Stay current on Microsoft enterprise solutions and evaluate tools and technologies to support evolving infrastructure needs.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s degree and 5+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, systems administration, or engineering.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with Windows Server environments in mid to large-scale enterprise settings.
  • Strong knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, and related core Microsoft infrastructure services.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies, particularly VMware and/or Microsoft Hyper-V.
  • Proficiency with PowerShell scripting for automation and system management.
  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (LACP, VLANs, load balancing) as they relate to server infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with identity and access management, including Azure AD, SSO, OAuth, and OpenID Connect.
  • Demonstrated experience in backup and disaster recovery solutions in a Windows environment.
  • Ability to lead technical initiatives, troubleshoot complex systems, and perform detailed root cause analysis.

Preferred Attributes:

  • Experience supporting Microsoft cloud services (Azure IaaS, hybrid AD environments, Azure AD Connect).
  • Familiarity with Windows security hardening, compliance frameworks, and patch management.
  • Prior involvement in managing system migrations, upgrades, or datacenter consolidations.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to mentor or lead junior team members.

This position offers an opportunity to lead infrastructure architecture in a Microsoft-centric environment, supporting mission-critical workloads through modern virtualization, automation, and system engineering practices.
