Principal Software Engineer - Cloud & Financial Services

Genesis10 is seeking a Principal Software Engineer - Cloud & Financial Services for a 6 month contract position with our financial services client in either Boston, MA or Minneapolis, MN. This role is onsite 4 days a week.

Compensation: $70.00 - 80.00 per hour W2, depending on skill and experience level.

Summary:
Our client is looking for a passionate and experienced Senior Software Engineer to join their Asset Management technology team. This is a hands-on engineering role where you will work closely with traders, portfolio managers, and analysts to build next-gen, cloud-native applications and analytical tools that power investment decisions.
You will bring a strong foundation in Java, Python, or .NET, combined with AWS cloud development experience and a deep understanding of the financial services domain. This is a high-impact opportunity to shape Front Office Technology and drive innovation across the organization.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and implement scalable solutions for complex business and data problems using modern technologies
• Own the full software development lifecycle-from concept to deployment and support
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop front-office tools and cloud-based applications
• Apply best practices in Agile, CI/CD, unit testing, code reviews, and modern engineering principles
• Leverage data analytics, automation, and GenAI/ML concepts to enhance investment workflows
• Bring a commercial mindset and creative problem-solving approach to every challenge
• Participate in discovery sessions to identify opportunities for tech-driven innovation
• Work in a highly collaborative culture that values humility, accountability, and continuous learning

Skills/Experience:

• 3-7+ years of hands-on software development experience
• Proficiency in Java, Python, or .NET (experience in multiple is a plus)
• Strong knowledge of AWS cloud services and architecture
• Previous experience in the Financial Services or Asset Management industry
• Ability to learn quickly, adapt to new domains, and contribute to strategic initiatives
• Strong communication and teamwork skills; thrives in collaborative environments
• Exposure to machine learning or GenAI concepts is a plus
