Network Management Tool Administrator

Astor & Sanders Corporation (Astor) is an award-winning IT solutions provider headquartered in McLean, VA and is seeking a Network Management Tool Administrator. This is a full-time position based in New Carrollton, MD. This is a hybrid role.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Managing Network Node Manager (formerly HP, now OpenText) network management tool.
  • Managing SolarWinds network management tool.
  • Responsible for server and application maintenance including backups, failovers, upgrades, and patches.
  • Responsible for the overall health of Network Node Manager system and associated hardware.
  • Diagnose problems with Network Node Manager and its environment and prepare an action plan to resolve the problem and communicate that plan to management.
  • Generate regular system status reports detailing the health and accuracy of Network Node Manager
  • Troubleshoot all problems Network Node Manager
  • Monitor the health of Network Node Manager.
  • Communicate with all stakeholders to ensure all are current on the status of the system.
  • Recommend improvements of Network Node Manager
  • Additional duties as assigned

Requirements


  • Around 5 years experience in managing and maintaining a Network Management System
  • At least 2 years experience working with Network Node Manager
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or related field
  • Experience working in a Network Operation Center (NOC) environment, responding to trouble tickets and alerts for LAN and WAN environments.
  • Candidate must have the ability to work as part of an operations team and be able to support multiple tasks at the same time.
  • MS Server administration including software upgrades, hardware and software issue resolution and configuration. Security patching is required on a continual basis.
  • Disaster Recovery system implementation and testing

Optional, but desired:

  • Experience supporting a large enterprise network, including LAN and WAN technologies based on Cisco hardware and platforms.
  • Expertise in networking concepts and equipment such as IPv4 and IPv6, MPLS, PLS and SIP, Routers, Switches, Load Balancers, Protocol analyzers, and probes.
