Job Details




We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to provide engineering support for the concept and prototype development of a semi-automated tabletop medical device. The engineer will lead the mechanical design effort, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration with electrical systems and firmware.


***Onsite in Georgetown, TX, with occasional local travel***


Responsibilities



  • Document user and functional requirements, as well as design specifications.

  • Lead mechanical design and engineering activities, including mounting, fixturing, packaging, and considerations for ease of assembly and maintenance.

  • Identify suppliers for custom components and obtain estimates.

  • Collaborate on the selection of electromechanical components (sensors, motors, actuators).

  • Partner with the industrial design team to ensure compatibility with the mechanical design.

  • Document design history in compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Provide technical analysis, resolve complex design challenges, and identify innovative solutions.

  • Apply knowledge of materials and fabrication methods for custom components, including steel, aluminum, fiberglass, injection-molded plastics, and weldments.

  • Investigate and integrate linear actuators, motors, sensors, and cable management systems.

  • Design latches, linkages, bearings, and other mechanical elements.

  • Specify and integrate AC/DC electrical power, data/controls, and sensors into mechanical assemblies.

  • Develop and execute testing protocols for mechanical systems and equipment.

  • Create, modify, and review engineering drawings and models in SolidWorks.

  • Prepare and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs).

  • Maintain design documentation, drawings, and computer files.


Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related field).

  • Minimum of 5 years of industry experience.

  • Proficiency in SolidWorks and other CAD/design tools.

  • Strong skills with computer-based software for documentation, data analysis, scheduling, and presentations (including Microsoft Office).

  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently while following direction.

  • Strong communication skills for collaborating with team members and suppliers.

  • Highly productive and efficient while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively, with strong planning and prioritization skills.
