We are looking for an experienced Research & Development Technology Director to lead innovation initiatives within our organization in the Des Moines, Iowa area. Responsibilities:

Lead a team and provide mentorship to a multidisciplinary team focused on R& D of technologies, fostering innovation and collaboration.

Identify and evaluate new technology trends to enhance product offerings and solutions.

Oversee the development of concepts from initial proof-of-concept through feasibility studies and scalable pilot implementations.

Collaborate with other internal teams to assess market feasibility and align innovation efforts with customer needs.

Set annual and quarterly goals for the team, conduct performance evaluations, and ensure team members are motivated and engaged.

Manage budgets and oversee salary planning for both direct and indirect reports.

Work closely with product, engineering, and manufacturing teams to ensure smooth integration and deployment of advanced technologies.

Investigate and resolve product issues identified during development, testing, production, or field operations.

Maintain awareness of external technological advancements and build partnerships with research institutions, startups, and vendors.

Advocate for customer-driven innovation by engaging stakeholders and end users to address real-world challenges with advanced solutions.

Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

At least 7 years of experience in R& D, innovation, or advanced technology roles.

Proven expertise in areas such as AI/ML and Product Development

Strong strategic thinking skills with the ability to align technological innovation with business objectives.

Demonstrated leadership and communication abilities, with a track record of building high-performing teams.

Familiarity with design for manufacturability and transitioning prototypes into production.

Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with attention to detail and accuracy.

Basic knowledge of electronic manufacturing processes and business operations.
