Job Details

We are seeking a Senior Stormwater Engineer for our Indianapolis office. We are looking for a motivated, self-starting professional with an entrepreneurial mindset to lead our Indiana drainage design team in support of transportation projects. This leadership role will involve managing a small team of engineers and designers, fostering technical excellence, and providing mentorship. In addition to team leadership, the position includes responsibilities in business development, marketing support, and the management of stormwater-specific projects as we continue to grow our Stormwater practice.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Collaborate with Stormwater Group leadership to oversee staff activities, provide mentorship, and identify new business development opportunities.
Contribute to a collaborative, team-oriented environment that supports the growth and success of the Stormwater Group.
Lead the planning and design of a variety of stormwater infrastructure, including hydraulic analyses for stream crossings, transportation-related drainage, and water quality facilities.
Serve as stormwater lead and engineer of record, coordinating with a multidisciplinary team that may include drafters, designers, EITs, and licensed professional engineers.
Oversee the successful delivery of stormwater and related infrastructure projects, ensuring quality, accuracy, and timely completion.
Actively manage task-specific scopes, schedules, and budgets; prior experience in project management is highly desirable.
Maintain strong working knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal stormwater design standards.
Communicate with clients and public agencies as needed to support project development and execution.

Required Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Water Resources Engineering
Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the state of Indiana
Minimum of 12 years of experience in hydrology and hydraulic design
Proficient in written and verbal communication
Experience with one or more of the following software tools: OpenRoads Designer SUDA, Civil 3D SSA, CivilStorm, SRH-2D, HEC-RAS, HEC-RAS 2D, and HY-8

Preferred Education and Experience
Master's degree in Civil Engineering or Water Resources Engineering
Experience collaborating with Departments of Transportation, local municipalities, and regulatory agencies at the local, state, and federal levels
Background in business development and/or marketing within the engineering sector
Familiarity with Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
Experience in stormwater and surface water master planning
Proficiency in one or more of the following software tools: OpenRoads Designer SUDA, Civil 3D SSA, CivilStorm, SRH-2D, HEC-RAS, HEC-RAS 2D, and HY-8
