Job Description:

Johnson & Johnson MedTech is recruiting for a Senior CAD Technician at the Palm Beach Gardens, FL or Westchester PA, Raynham MA or Raritan, NJ.
Purpose of the Position:

This individual will be part of the Technical Operations group, supporting the Enabling Technologies platform. This platform is responsible for robotics, powered handpieces, and other hardware and software technologies enabling our businesses in Joint Reconstruction, Spine, and Trauma.

This position involves creating sophisticated design documentation, CAD models, and technical drawings that adhere to industry and regulatory standards, ultimately enhancing our product offerings in Joint Reconstruction, Spine, and Trauma.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and produce precise engineering drawings for electrical, design, and manufacturing that align with local and international standards (e.g., ASME, ANSI, ISO).
  • Create expert-level 3D models and design details using advanced CAD software, particularly SolidWorks Surfacing.
  • Collaborate with engineers to document electrical components and assemblies, including board layouts, schematics, wiring diagrams, cable assemblies, PCA's and PCB's
  • Manage associated lists (BOMs, parts lists, wiring lists).
  • Ensure all drawings, CAD models, and specifications meet standards for clarity, completeness, and conformity to procedural requirements.
  • Conduct fundamental mathematical calculations to support design reviews, including linear measurements, volume, weight, surface area, center of gravity, and basic tolerance analysis.
  • Provide daily support to various functional departments during all stages of the product lifecycle, including Prototype, Design, Inspection, Manufacturing, Assembly, Packaging, Labeling, Engineering Change Orders, and Obsolescence.
  • Assist in implementing and maintaining standards related to drafting, configuration management, labeling, UDI, RoHS, FDA, and European Union Medical Device regulations (EU MDR) as needed.
  • Lead efforts in migrating and transitioning CAD software upgrades, document repositories, and Product Lifecycle Management systems. Provide training and support to users on CAD applications.
  • Assist other departments by creating illustrations or photo-realistic renderings for Instructions for Use (IFUs), Marketing presentations, or other instructional documentation.
  • Address user support requests related to CAD application issues promptly and effectively. Provide personalized training and instruction on CAD software utilization.
  • Ensure all work produced is accurate, well-documented, and follows company Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
  • Exhibit self-direction and the ability to plan and prioritize personal workload. Collaborate effectively with engineers, regulatory affairs, quality assurance, and other functional teams to propose innovative solutions.
  • Contribute to the initial releases or revision updates of Q-SOPs, templates, and other technical documents.
  • Represent CAD and occasionally Product Development Engineering in multi-discipline meetings to support company initiatives.
  • Adhere to company standards and Quality System Regulations (QSR) during task execution.

Qualifications:
Education:
  • Minimum of a two-year Associate's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Drafting (CAD), or a related field from an accredited institution. Equivalent job experience may be considered in lieu of educational requirements.

Experience and Skills:
  • Required:
  • Minimum of 7 years of job experience in advanced CAD design and drafting (Modeling, Surfacing) or similar engineering position.
  • Prior experience with the design and manufacture of Electro-Mechanical assemblies.
  • Proficient in using 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).
  • Competent in applying GD&T in accordance with ASME Y14.5 standards.
  • Proficient with MS Office applications, especially Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Experience with graphic software (e.g., Corel Draw), label creation software (e.g., Bartender), ERP systems (e.g., SAP), PDM systems.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience while working with cross-functional teams.
  • Preferred:
  • Certified SolidWorks Professional certification is highly advantageous.
