Job Role: Power Plant Construction Manager

Location: Sweetwater Texas (Onsite)

Contract C2C/W2

Position Summary

The Power Plant Construction Manager (CM) serves as the primary field leader, ensuring the successful execution of all construction activities for NextEra projects. Acting as the bridge between the Project Manager and field operations, the CM oversees safety, quality, schedule adherence, environmental compliance, and resource coordination. This role requires strong leadership, exceptional communication, and meticulous attention to project documentation and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

Pre-Construction

  • Review and fully understand all contract documents, permits, agreements, drawings, schedules, QA/QC standards, and submittals.
  • Review and enforce the contractor s safety plan; coordinate with NextEra Safety for corrections.
  • Lead project kickoff meetings and establish clear expectations with contractors.
  • Attend contractor-hosted Site Specific Orientation sessions.
  • Set and communicate expectations for NextEra s site team regarding safety, quality, and reporting.
  • Implement and manage:
    • Site Safety Orientation
    • Site Specific Safety Plan compliance
    • Safety Assessments / CILs (Unifier)
    • QA/QC processes (Unifier)
    • Site photo documentation and inclusion in weekly reports

Construction Management

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with contractors while holding them accountable to project standards.
  • Oversee all aspects of safety, quality control, and adherence to technical specifications.
  • Monitor project schedules (C1 and Contractor P-6) and track progress against milestones.
  • Approve CSU and ensure accurate project tracking spreadsheets.
  • Monitor environmental compliance (SWPPP) and coordinate outage/crossing activities.
  • Ensure joint responsibility with contractors for project safety, schedule, and quality outcomes.

Reporting & Documentation

  • Independently gather accurate project data avoid sole reliance on contractor reports.
  • Produce detailed and precise weekly reports and trackers by Friday 5:00 PM project time.
  • Maintain records to support change order disputes and cost controls.
  • Coordinate closely with the Project Manager, providing necessary background for escalation.

Resource Management

  • Collaborate with NextEra support teams:
    • Environmental Leverage environmental audits, guidance, and compliance support.
    • ISC/Expeditor Manage delivery schedules, track materials, and expedite shipments.
    • Safety Team Enhance site safety culture and enforce compliance.
    • Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) Engage specialists in civil, structural, electrical, and other disciplines to resolve technical challenges.
    • Land Agents Address landowner issues, enforce land agreements, and coordinate land-related planning.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred).
  • Proven experience managing large-scale power plant or industrial construction projects.
  • Strong understanding of safety regulations, quality standards, and environmental compliance.
  • Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and systems (e.g., P-6, Unifier).
  • Ability to travel and work on-site as required.
