Job Details
Are you seeking to push the limits of what's considered feasible? We are looking for a world class lens module engineer to join our engineering team and make a big difference in the future of Apple. By collaborating with broad engineering roster including optical engineers, human perception experts, product design engineers, and experimental physicists, you'll push the industry boundaries of what optics can do and improve the product experience for our customers across the world. A successful candidate will not only focus on developing innovative imaging architecture new to industry, but also educate a broad audience of people at Apple about their benefits and tradeoffs. In addition, this role involves ensuring the accuracy of manufacturing, reliability of characterization, and tooling techniques used for lens module.
Description As a Vision Display Lens Module Engineer, you'll drive the entire lens module end to end, from conceptual design to volume manufacturing. Your responsibilities will span various tasks, including collaborating effectively with key stakeholders such as Optical, Mechanical, Display, System, Software, Product Design, and external vendors. You will be expected to: - Define architecture for new imaging lens technologies with understanding of system requirement, display & optical behavior, and human perception. - Translate optics requirement and features into detailed plans, develop schedules, deliver solutions in predictable, timely manner. - Use geometrical optics or wave-optics tools to architect new optical modules and to assess their expected performance and limitations. - Work with multi-functional teams to assess risks, understand coverage needs and priorities - Work with optics manufacturing suppliers, and develop new techniques for optical components and modules. - Identify novel characterization techniques to measure key performance metrics of complex and novel optical components. Perform statistical analysis of data to determine optical performance and quality. - Regular visit suppliers to support engineering builds, and help with failure analysis activities. - Generate and maintain documentation of specifications, manufacturing, test and FA processes.
