Overview:

This is a remote contract position with the potential for full-time conversion, based on organizational needs. Candidates must be open to converting to a full-time employee if offered. The position supports an initiative tied to risk mitigation and infrastructure security.

Position Details:

  • Contract Type: Contract with right-to-hire if a need becomes available

  • Overtime: Rare but possible

  • Reason for Opening: Additional need / replacing a contractor

  • Project: Supporting JIRA CTORQ-677

  • Organizational Impact: Focused on mitigating risk within the technology and infrastructure domain

  • Team Background: Strong preference for candidates with a background in risk technology and infrastructure security

Key Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot firewall and VPN incidents, identify root causes, and recommend resolutions

  • Analyze vulnerability and compliance risks on perimeter devices

  • Develop and implement remediation plans

  • Participate in on-call rotations and perform weekend change implementations

  • Support and maintain large-scale firewall and VPN infrastructure

Required Technical Skills:

  1. Fortinet Firewalls – Strong experience in enterprise data center environments with Fortinet (especially larger models in HA clusters), running FortiOS 7.x

  2. Cisco Firewalls – Proficiency with Cisco firewalls running FTD 7.4

  3. VPN Configuration and Support – Expertise with Cisco AnyConnect VPNs and Cisco FTD firewalls supporting up to 30,000 users

  4. Fortinet Tooling – Hands-on experience with FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer, FortiAuthenticator, and Firepower Management Console

  5. Self-Starter – Ability to work independently with minimal training

  6. Availability – Willingness to support on-call duties and participate in change windows during weekends

Preferred/Bonus Skills:

  • Experience with Splunk, LiveNX, and Entuity for troubleshooting

  • Relevant certifications in Fortinet or Cisco Firepower/VPN technologies

  • Strong project management or self-management capabilities

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Proactive and self-directed

  • Ability to manage projects independently

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience)

  • Experience: 6+ years in relevant roles
