Job overview and responsibilities
The Analyst/Senior Analyst - International Network Planning role is responsible for building United's route network to maximize profitability as well as contributing to commercial projects including, but not limited to, fleet strategy, airplane configuration, and long-range network plans. Projects will include creating schedule proposals and market forecasts for proposed changes using a data-driven approach. The Analyst/Senior Analyst will have regular presentations to leadership, up to the Vice-President level. This position will also complete ad-hoc projects to support senior management and broader Department initiatives, as needed.

Job overview and responsibilities
The Analyst/Senior Analyst - International Network Planning role is responsible for building United's route network to maximize profitability as well as contributing to commercial projects including, but not limited to, fleet strategy, airplane configuration, and long-range network plans. Projects will include creating schedule proposals and market forecasts for proposed changes using a data-driven approach. The Analyst/Senior Analyst will have regular presentations to leadership, up to the Vice-President level. This position will also complete ad-hoc projects to support senior management and broader Department initiatives, as needed.
- Design and optimize schedules for maximum network value while taking other stakeholder priorities into account including safety, customer service, catering, inflight crew, aircraft performance and others
- Develop long-term strategic plans for United's network by forecasting and executing tactical and strategic recommendations for new flights, reduced service, or frequency of aircraft changes
- Support and lead negotiations with airline partners, industry stakeholders, and internal teams to optimize networks and schedules
- Build and manage cross functional relationships with commercial and operating groups to align Revenue Management, Cargo, Sales, Marketing around a unified strategy to ensure viability of network plans and improve decision making in all related domains
- Evaluate the broader United network and fleets and make recommendations regarding aircraft purchases, retirements, or reconfigurations
- Proactively research, develop, and present insights with an owner mentality to leadership
- Represent United at industry conferences and external stakeholder meeting
NOTE: This position provides a hybrid work arrangement including approximately 50% of the time spent working onsite at our Chicago office location and 50% remotely.
Qualifications
What's needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
- Bachelor's degree
- 2 - 5+ years professional work experience or one year of aircraft scheduling/planning
- Complex problem solving through independent critical thinking
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
- Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
- Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

- Master's degree in aviation, Business, Economics, or related area
- Advanced data manipulation and quantitative analysis skills
- Scheduling experience
- Knowledge of writing SQL queries
