Job Title: Datacenter Manager
Location: Hybrid - in Ashburn, VA 1 day per week
Employment Type: W2 Contract to Hire
Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Datacenter Manager to lead infrastructure operations for a global organization, supporting both remote and onsite activities at a datacenter in Ashburn, VA. This role is critical to the success of high-visibility infrastructure projects and will report directly to the Director of Cloud Data. The selected candidate will oversee the full lifecycle of datacenter operations, including capacity planning, modernization, and decommissioning efforts, while ensuring alignment with long-range strategic goals.
Must Have Skills
  • Strong background in CoLo environments and vendor management (e.g., QTS).
  • Hands-on experience with cabling, power, cooling, and physical infrastructure.
  • Functional support (setting strategy, creating profession documentation of procedures)

Responsibilities:
  • Manage infrastructure projects with an annual scope exceeding $5 million, ensuring alignment with long-term strategic planning.
  • Oversee capacity planning, retrofits, and the decommissioning of legacy datacenter environments.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives across infrastructure standards, materials, and methodologies.
  • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all technical infrastructure deployed at operational sites, including cabinet/rack models, electrical and cooling requirements, cable types, UPS/PDU selections, and wireless access point installations.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams (Cybersecurity, Compute, Storage, Network, Data Protection) to manage all datacenter assets and ensure seamless integration.
  • Support datacenter expansion through M&A activities and new site deployments.
  • Develop and mentor a high-performing team, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and operational excellence.
  • Maintain oversight of all datacenter facility plans and ensure successful execution of complex installation projects.
  • Forecast infrastructure needs and contribute to long-range planning (LRP) and budgeting.

Additional Skills & Experience:
  • Proven experience managing datacenter operations and infrastructure projects.
  • Hands-on experience with cabling, power, cooling, and physical infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with cloud integration and hybrid infrastructure models.
  • Exceptional leadership, planning, and project management skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, technical environment with shifting priorities.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting datacenter operations for large-scale enterprise or government clients.
  • Knowledge of compliance and security standards in regulated environments.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $75.00 - $80.00/hr.
