Role Description SAP ASE Replication SME

Clearance Requirement: Must hold an active Secret clearance

Candidates should have at least Secret Level Clearance and Security+ Certification. Expected start date will be early to mid-October, with a planned period of performance of 6 months. Project is expected to be delivered remotely, however there could be some travel.

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced SAP ASE Replication SME to design, implement, and support SAP Adaptive Server Enterprise (ASE) Replication Server solutions in highly available and mission-critical enterprise environments. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in database replication, high availability, disaster recovery, and performance optimization of ASE systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, installation, configuration, migration, and administration of SAP ASE Replication Server across multiple environments.
• Manage real-time replication, latency monitoring, and conflict resolution between source and target ASE databases.
• Troubleshoot complex replication issues (e.g., latency, queue build-up, DSI/RSI errors, data consistency).
• Perform capacity planning, performance tuning, and health checks for ASE Replication environments.
• Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and SAP Basis teams to ensure seamless integration with SAP NetWeaver, ECC, and other SAP landscapes using ASE.
• Provide guidance and best practices for data migration, upgrades, and cross-platform replication (heterogeneous environments).
• Document architecture, processes, and operational procedures for ASE Replication.
• Train and mentor operations and support teams on ASE replication concepts and troubleshooting.

Required Skills & Experience

• 10+ years of experience with SAP ASE Database Administration.
• 7+ years of hands-on experience with SAP ASE Replication Server (setup, configuration, troubleshooting).
• Strong expertise in replication architecture (Warm Standby, Multi-Site Availability, Heterogeneous Replication).
• Experience with replication latency monitoring tools and troubleshooting techniques.
• Proficiency in SQL, stored procedures, triggers, and ASE system tables.
• Solid knowledge of Linux/Unix operating systems in relation to ASE deployment.
• Familiarity with migration projects from Cloud to Cloud
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in high-pressure environments.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in SAP ASE upgrades and migrations to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, SAP NS2).
• Knowledge of integration with SAP Business Suite running on ASE.
• Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., SAP DBA Cockpit, Prometheus, custom monitoring scripts).
• Prior work with DoD/FedRAMP/NS2 environments
• SAP or Sybase certification in ASE/Replication Server.
• Develop and implement high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) strategies using ASE Replication and associated tools.

Education

• Bachelor s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field.
• Master s degree preferred but not required.
