Electronics Engineer

Introduction:

This position will be responsible for drafting and recommending telecommunications decisions, working on communications/control planning, and providing technical expertise in electronic engineering, microwave, telecommunications, radio, SONET, optical fiber, and electrical engineering.

Responsibilities:

  • Draft telecommunications decisions for operational circuits on the agency's communications systems.
  • Work with a team to draft communications/control planning plans-of-service for study agreements and projects.
  • Identify required telecommunications elements and document minimum requirements for projects.
  • Draft and recommend communications/control plans for existing and new sites.
  • Document plans on Project Requirements Diagrams website.
  • Provide cost estimates for communication items and metering requirements.
  • Analyze microwave paths and SONET configurations using planning tools.
  • Communicate technical information verbally and in writing to various stakeholders.
  • Provide project/task updates as requested by management.

Requirements:

Education & Corresponding Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in electronic engineering or closely related field.
  • 10+ years of electronics/electrical engineering experience.

Required Technical Skills & Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in developing cost estimates for communication items.
  • Experience in planning digital radio systems and fiber optic systems.
  • Experience disseminating technical information in writing and orally.
  • Knowledge of transmission and operational telecommunications systems.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Experience in Electric Utility sector with C&C Planning, Electronic Design, Communications Maintenance.
  • Knowledge of NERC and WECC Planning Standards.
  • Experience with Ethernet-based WAN systems.
  • Communication network operation and architecture principles.
  • Planning of communications, control, and data systems for network transmission projects.
